WSL Chelsea (A) - 16/11/24 - KO 17:30

Sound familiar?

"Chelsea had just 36% possession, but nearly double the number of shots and touches in the opposition box compared to Manchester City."

We were missing Aleixandri, Hemp & Miedema. That's the order I'd have them in for importance in this game. Aleixandri gives us so much in distributing and breaking the first lines of the opposition and without her today everything was just a little bit too slow and indecisive. Pretty obvious what Hempo brings with the ability to run at players or chase the ball over the top. She's a goal threat on her own but also great assisting others too. With the amount of games that she's missed I'm not really sure that we're fully acclimated to including Miedema as yet but at the very least she would have given us the option of a quality forward coming off the bench.

Sadly, you may be right. To me the main difference is Bompastor and Taylor. Bombastor might even be a better, more productive manager than Chelsea’s previous. It may be that she was up for grabs at the end of last season. We stayed with Taylor.
Spot on. Taylor has a squad of players capable of winning the league with world class talent in Aleixandri, Hasegaw, Hemp, Greenwood and Shaw backed up with good youth talent like Park. He showed his naivety last season against Arsenal tactically when the league was lost. This obsession with slow build up from the back is generic with all the city teams so maybe he's been a bit brainwashed there, but he's incapable of creating different attacking options like Bombaster does. This Japanese winger is useless and obviously brought in as company for Yui, Fowler too lightweight I'm afraid.
Chelsea will now go on to win the title sadly the best we can hope for one of the cups.

They are the team that others are going to have to beat in order to win the league.

Years of growth and investment in good players at the root of the team, and everybody else is trying to keep up with them.
And good managers. They lose a proven winner and go out and get another proven winner in the women's game. They have managed the transition well.

Because he is a footballing genius.
He was (until tonight at least). I went to cook dinner at 2-0, so no idea what happened after that.

I thought we played OK, and as usual didn't take the chances created for us. We started the second very well, and were looking the better (and stronger) team for quite a while, then we didn't take a couple of chances, and fell apart after the goal.

Agreed. We played pretty well until they scored. They then relaxed and we couldn’t cope physically for a few minutes.

We’re a bit unlucky to have Hemp and Miedema both out. We needed to be more clinical, like most of this season.

We’re not far away, but we need another wide forward and a left back.

I watched first half and thought I was watching the current iteration of our blokes team.

Chavs were faster, physical, wanted it. We were slow, lost possession and seemed to be intimidated by their hassling/ pressing ( what the chaps will face at Klanfield in 2 weeks). Their coach seems the real deal, I am not being sexist but maybe we could try a woman coach and a change in tactics.

I don't know how the Ragettes are playing this season, but let's hope they can perform and put a dent in this shower and rain on their title parade.....

Personally I've always wondered how much the club is committed to the women's team ?
Because wouldn't you be looking for the best management you ?
I sometimes think , the women's team is good PR exercise for the club

Chelsea woman team seem to always appoint a woman as manager one with good reputation!

You watch it Chelsea get the ball pass it to midfield then wide run down the wing cross it and it's an opportunity for them! When you have Shaw up top fcuking play to her and have 2/3 players to pick up the loose ball second ball the old fashioned long ball! Only player with initiative trying to make something happen was the new girl on the right the rest are mainly passive players meaning pass the buck!

The Japanese girl Fujino is not good enough for me.

I, actually, think she's got potential.

Although she mainly only beat Baltimore once, she went on attacking run a couple of times, which is more than she has done since the start of the season.

Now if the coaches can get her to drive more directly at her opponents and not turn back to play it safe, she might be a heck of a player.

So, basically, a less self-centred Kelly... who, by the way, I thought was more suited to this game.

I think the 'punishment' should be over and let her play some some, equally, like Taylor's started to do with Keating and Yamashita.
