Right back options

For me the answer is Akanji. He’s defensively sound, we’ve seen him step into midfield so he can play the inverted role, he’s not going to bomb up and down a la Walker, but when Gvardiol does it from the left he can split with the two centre backs and become a back three.

All the pieces fit for me, and there really isn’t a better alternative out there as far as I can see.
probably the best option we have for this system, top tier RB/RCBs dont seem to be cheap or available right now.

Simikan would be great, but cant see him leaving Saudi soon. Lukeba links are a constant popup last few months.

Never heard of apart from some guy who we had but was deemed not good enough along with yan couto . My god we have given some really good players away so that we can become net spend champions .
Dot get me wrong, I'd like us still to have Porro... but he's hasn't been amazing for Spurs, seems a very hot and cold player

And Couto is struggling to find his feet at Dortmund

Yea they'd be upgrades on the Walker and Lewis of this season but thats a pretty low bar, they probably aren't even better than the Lewis/Walker of last year

Vanderson and Frimpong seem better than both, so would be pretty happy if we got either

This is the correct answer.

Instead of focusing on bringing in a right back, Akanji should be used in this position as he was you know… when we won the treble!

Bring in a new CB instead. One player that has impressed me when I’ve seen him play is Bastoni for inter.

One would think that Nunes might have been given a run out at right-back in one of the 40 odd games he’s featured in, but no. Guardiola evidently doesn’t think that’s a position for him even when Walker has not played in over 20 games since Nunes arrived.

Can’t see us signing a RB in January but a CB sure. We have Lewis, Walker but also Akanji that can play there and will get more of a chance with another CB here.

See how Pep adapts this season and if we change shape or tactics. Or he’ll have an idea about next season as well.

We can all see Walker moving on. Would we go for Frimpong? I’ve heard worse ideas. Wing back style defender like Walker and is club trained.
