Still has to settle and it is a huge risk to make that move midseason especially with us struggling for form. There is no wriggle room for him to fully acclmatise. His agent would probably advise him to stay put until the end of the season see if there is more interestered clubs
Or the player is ambitious and backs themself to make a difference for us as any elite level professional would?
Increasing their wage, play under pep and in every top level European competition in the process.

Any move for a player is a risk no matter which window it happens in. I'd argue there's less pressure to bed in now the league is effectively gone.

And also there's no chance any football agent on earth would be advising their player against a move to city to sacrifice what would likely be a huge pay day for them.

I'd take either Allison or Kelleher.
Seemingly Slot is happy to let either go.
Not too sure why.
Leicester and Fulham looking at Delap in the Xmas transfer window.
Our buyback clause doesn't kick in until the end of this season.
Brighton also willing to let Ferguson go on loan.
Any of those would be an improvement to our squad strength.
ferguson would be a great move

So other players wouldn’t come but Otamendi would. And we’d think that was a good option. Bearing in mind you’re saying decent players wouldn’t leave their club mid season. I’m going to bed I suggest you do too.
bringing him be as bad as bringing gundo back

Far from it. A lot are expecting too much in January that is all. I don't think we would be if we are wanting cover then that is the type of signing is more realstic mid season. Get our current set of players fit is the priority before any signings.
I’m expecting cover for Rodri that’s all tbh .

Fabian Ruiz wants out of PSG apparently. maybe a swap on with de Jong.

He looked good in the euros. I know he plays a bit further forward than Rodri. But he could replace Gundo.

Hjulmand
Semedo (contract with Wolves expires in summer, cash plus Kabore?)

They would strengthen us for the rest of the campaign, and with Bobb back we'd be in a better place up front.

Not suggesting we aren't a major pull but the statement that once City come knocking you drop everything is a little hyperbolic. Especially mid-season.

Maybe that particular statement is hyperbolic, but that doesn't mean that players don't see City as a major club and would be attracted to a move to us.

Sometimes you state things in either black or white terms Ray, and continue to argue along those lines, and that is where others disagree with you.

Mid-season transfers may be more difficult but where a buying club is determined enough, they clearly do happen in football.

We don't want strengthening for the rest of the campaign. We want to start rebuilding the squad for the next few years. If we can get 1 or 2 of those in January great if not then better waiting for the summer.

And, if you believe Jack Gaughan, WILL happen in January. Every rumour carries a pinch of salt, but he seems fairly certain that we will be in the market for two midfielders in January. I lend a little bit more weight to Gaughan because he's trusted by the club.

We arguably need both. Injured players will return as the season rolls on, and the contract lengths of those already here suggest that we're not going to have a mass exodus in the summer. Anybody brought in now needs to be able to strengthen the squad but also be able to play a part in the next season(s). It's traditionally difficult to sign anyone in the winter window- I think Laporte might be our only major acquisition- so my suggestions are an attempt at being realistic.

My guess is we bring in somebody like Ederson/ Zubimendi, and that will be it for January. We'll seen soon though.

With Jesus we still had Aguero, Sane, Ihanacho, and Sterling as well and a few others who could chip in to really help to bed in and we were miles off winning the league so little less pressure to adapt.
we're miles of looking like winning it now tbf

I think we'll look to bring in both.
We certainly need both; based on the performances of the past month, it seems that Kovacic is the only player we have at the moment who is capable of producing decent performances in central midfield. Which is a remarkable position for the club to find itself in.

Everyone knows that we’re about to spend a load of money and I would think that agents will be offering us everything and everybody because they’ll all want a piece of it.

I think we’ll sign two good midfielders, but it will cost us a hefty premium because we’re doing it in January.
