IIRC that was the last game Ian Cheesman did for the BBC after his comments at the end of the game regarding the integrity of the referee. He essentially called him a cheat. Perfect opportunity for the BBC to back their man and address the glaring issues within the game, but they didn't, which in my mind speaks volumes; a cover up at the highest levels of the sport.

The elite list of referees is so small, pretty much all of them get the League Cup Final, within a couple of years of being promoted to it.

All except the one crying about it maybe?

The point about him being the first ever referee to be “involved in both finals” is a pretty flimsy one aswell. Implying it’s some age old tradition that’s been broken. When to referee one and be VAR in the other is only something that’s been possible for a handful of seasons.

If all you were reading was people saying… You’ve got to give PGMOL credit. They’ve identified a bad apple and dealt with it accordingly.

But I’ve not heard one single person saying that.

The site thst has been running 18 years now and not been the subject of any legal action I'm aware of.....very surprising if in fact it's based on lies/ fantasy.
I for one take everything 're refs on there seriously,..and if one ref has been texting a mate saying did u bet on that (booking) how many other dodgy decisions have gone unnoticed...or unannounced.
Football is corrupt to the core , look how many betting companies are attracted to the game as sponsors...I could go on ..but I'll leave you with your unblemished image of the game.

The Chelsea game was the last game IC did for the bbc
It was also my last game as a season ticket holder.
Gave it up mid season , I was fuming .Taylor did my head in
