How about giving Gvardiol a chance in his natural position with Dias, and Akanji and Ake at FB and see how it goes.

Genuinely thought he was the source of pretty much everything bad today. At the start of the second half we came out and looked like we had some modicum of controlled build-up and we might get a foothold. Ball goes to Walker and he immediately tries some 1 in 100 cross-field ball which was obviously never coming off. Then we get it back and start building up again, only for Walker to be caught offside while looking right down the line.

The first goal he has no idea who's around him. The penalty, Dias makes a mistake but far from a terminal error - 90% of the time we get away with that, but then Walker compounds it by trying to skip round a player instead of just fucking dealing with it. Every corner he tried and embarrassingly failed to keep track of Van Dijk. He's constantly playing passes that give Lewis and Foden work to do, which is making them look shitter. He's out of position on almost every opposition attack. Going forward, he offers less than nothing because he just gets behind only to blast it at a defender or pass it back and recycle it.

Honestly, abysmal isn't the word. Playing him at the moment is an act of active self-harm to the team, he is quite literally tanking the confidence of everybody around him.

If Gvardiol really improves his concentration and other bits and pieces of his defending then why not but Pep sees him as a full back.

Yes. There’s a difference between form and age. Pep lets his trusted guys play back in to form, but Kyle is done. His legs don’t do what they used to and his decision making because of it is awful. He won’t get that pace back.
