A s**t away end full of tourists

i had one ok, but paid 80 quid for another blue to get them in, what an away day that was, a real City following, each and every one there, inside and out lived and breathed for City, not a tourist within a million miles of Ewood Park, i wonder how many there that day have been forgotten by City
Me and a mate were in the Darwen End. 1-0 down at HT and queuing for a beer the fukers were singing "bluemoon started singing to soon" really pissed me off so when we equalized I jumped up and cheered-got a few blows to the head but the police relocated us to the away end so all good.

I’ve not been to an away game for a number of years but I’m always struck by our away contingent seems to have the same faces. Either during the game, Cheeseman’s vlogs or the YouTube guys, always the same people.

Wouldn’t it be great if the away tickets were on a ballot and let everyone who wants to go have the same chance?

I remember them singing that.

They'll be old hands in supporters clubs probably. They do allocate a proportion of the away tickets to 18/25 year olds.

No one was calling for a ballot when we were shite were they , yet the people who went then and amassed loyalty points are being shafted now constantly

No, it wouldn’t be great. It would be shit. You’d have 10,000 in the ballot for United and the lads who have barely missed an away game for decades, would nearly all miss out.

Then you’d have a run of say, Tottenham, Bournemouth, Sporting Lisbon and Brighton, all away, in the space of 11 days. And the lads who would normally be at all four of them would be pissed off and tell them to stick their ballot. Except there wouldn’t even be a ballot because they wouldn’t be able to give them all away, as the 10,000 who wanted United tickets, were all washing their hair on those days.

On the flip side, I've amassed a lot of loyalty points based upon a platinum season ticket since the scheme started, plus cup game direct debits. I used to go to a lot of away game between 2001 and 2009.

In reality, I haven't been to more than a dozen away games in the last fifteen years and, quite frankly, haven't got a lot of wish to go to many more. However, I check the criteria on a regular basis and I don't think there has been an away game where I couldn't have got a ticket if I so wished.

Quite frankly, despite all my loyalty points, given that my last away game in England was in 2017, despite the fact I never miss any home games, I'm not really sure that I should be in the queue for United away ahead of somebody who goes to all the away games now but simply isn't old enough to have built up the accumulated total that I have in the 25 years since we brought loyalty points in.

Try going to one then instead of coming on here talking a pile of shit.

I see the photo of the ‘Barca 8’ is now doing the rounds on social media sites - with loads of the expected ‘plastic’ responses.

Shame on everybody at City responsible for turning us into a joke !

Maybe the Barcelona lot were friends of Pep and he got them them tickets.
Some people might remember the dozen Belgium Fans at Arsenal a few seasons back who got tickets from Vinny.

The local team for local people days have moved on sadly. Success brings tourists and it is the MATCH day experience. Club not arsed about who buys the tickets. Could be worse and be full plastic like the rags and dippers.

Ian Cheeseman was sat a few seats down from me yesterday.
Was OK where I was and on the concourse so surprised there were quite a few tourists in other parts.

They aren't just random seats around the away end. They are in batches. The Barcelona fans had two rows of 10 or so in different parts of the away end.

It is 100% the club as part of some contract or something
As I said, the club reserve 5% of the away tickets for the use of playerd, staff & sponsors. If it's come out of that allocation then the only complaint can be against the dickheads who thought it was clever to wear Barcelona shirts.

There is a genuine issue with whether the club sticks to the 60% they say they allocate to season ticket holders, and that's worth pressuring the club over (not that we'll get an answer).

But there's really no mileage in complaining about tickets that were never going to be part of that 60% anyway.

And if you're at an away game and see someone who doesn't appear to have sourced their ticket from the normal allocations then take a note of the seat and pass it on to Alex via Ciry Matters.

We regularly got small numbers of Belgium Blues - maybe a dozen or so -at Arsenal Away, who were also keen Anderlect fans, It was the 150 Belgiums who had tickets together in our end at Arsenal, who sang thier own songs, that was a pisstake.

The question needs to be put to the club but Points of Blue and the OSC aren't going to do it!
I'm not sure what the purpose of the OSC is? As the 'official supporters' club...how does it represent official supporters??

We're becoming everything we used to take the piss out of utd for. And to be fair, they did warn us. Before we know it, season ticket holders will be forced onto the cup schemes and away matches will be balloted.

In their away ends? Last year two rags with colours were in front of with about half a dozen yanks. Club doesn’t give a shit but they need to wake up and smell the coffee. They aren’t getting to kids to the games on a regular basis because parents can’t afford to take them and they are pissing off long term fans with their ridiculous policy on away tickets. I couldn’t go today due to a long standing arrangement but watched the first hour on TV and didn’t hear our support once. It’s great that Alex puts on record these issues but he did a fantastic job compiling a report after the Istanbul debacle and the club said not a word which was utterly disgraceful. I doubt they will do anything about this either. The only way they might start to listen is if points holders and the OSC boycott an away fixture and not buy any
