Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Unfortunately, you can't just take a squad of kids
I think everybody expects the full squad to go, but assume it will be like the premier league with youth players not counting in the squad limit. Against the weaker teams we need to be playing all our youth. Do we get anyone back from their loan before the start that can go with us?

If we win this the club and players will celebrate it way more than the fans.

Nothing has happened since this meeting. As things stand there is fuck all in it for participating clubs.
FIFA have told the clubs involved they will each receive $Xm for competing, and additional for winning games, and progressing. It will be very lucrative and worthwhile which is why the clubs are helping to promote it.

FIFA have something like $4b in cash reserves, so if they wanted to, they could completely underwrite the competition.

However, ticket sales, sponsorship, and eventual broadcast deals will mean they won't need to. FIFA just won't make as much money as they were expecting for this iteration, but they won't lose any.

It's happening and we're part of it.

If it was up to me, I’d tell FIFA that all the senior players were injured and give them the full close season off to recharge their batteries and have some rest before next term.

Send the EDS and beat U18s.

I know it won’t happen, but the entire squad needs a rest and a break from football.
agree.

Ditch the League Cup and reduce the PL to 18 teams. 10 games right there.
Woah, don’t reduce the PL, what the hell would we do that for? That’s the one thing I would not touch in any way whatsoever!

Before ever touching the PL I would:
Fuck the Nations League internationals off.
Either that or bin off the Euro and WC qualifiers and use the Nations League as qualification for them (that’s what South America does).
Reduce the number of international breaks during the season.
Reduce the Euros and World Cup to 24 teams.
Reduce the EFL Cup to being a tournament just for non-European place teams with the winners going into the Europa League.
Reduce the CL back to what it was from 2004-2024.
I’d even have No replays in the FA Cup or even go as far as to make international football for Under 23s only before ever reducing the PL to 18 teams.

I’m actually looking forward to the Club World Cup. I’d rather watch that than I would the international football World Cup.

Now Botofogo have won the Copa Libertadores, the teams have now been decided:

Some fucking massive South American potential derby games in there with River Plate and Boca Juniors as well as Flumimense and Flamengo. Play the European teams, especially City Madrid and Bayern.

I think it will be great and if we could be the inaugural winners of it, it could be historic. If in 100 years’ time, it’s still going and we will always be in the history books as being the first ever winners, that’d be great!

With the amount of games our players will have missed through injury this season, the CWC might actually be a positive in getting our players back to peak condition n’all as many will need games rather than rest after the amount of time they’ve had off.

Agree, I cant wait for Fridays draw. At my age I may never get the chance to go again.

I think that the league is gone now and maybe we might be out the CL early so the number of games will reduce in the normal season, all about top 4 now.

That said it shows how fractured football is when FIFA can put a tournament like this on but not have any balance for the league programme, crazy really.

On a separate note, I am going to now struggle to get a ticket via the club for this so wonder do people know how easy it will be to get tickets through FIFA and other channels?

If it’s similar to World Cup comps,I’m sure fifa do a follow your team, where you pay for however many games you want to go to,pay for them all at which ever category you want, then if your team gets knocked out,you get refunded for unused tickets.may be wrong though.how come you’d struggle to get a ticket from the club

In decades to come, I reckon people will look back and wonder why we didn’t adopt this sooner and fuck international football off.

I think this is far more exciting than an international World Cup. I’d love to go to these games!

The old versions of Club World Cups are taken very seriously by South American clubs. Give this a few goes over the next dozen years in this proper expanded format and I think European club will too.

With it being in the US, them south American teams are going to pack out grounds for this, the atmosphere will be unbelievable

This is a big trophy to win. Nothing like the previous CWC trophy. I'm sure we'll take it very seriously. Rodri is likely to be back for this, so we can win it.
