Album Of The Year 2024 - Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown

I also thought Yeat 2093 was very fresh sounding and I liked it. He is an acquired taste but the production is superb. Can't see it being very popular with you FOCs though
 
Got a list of 10 from this year and just juggling with the order, but my favourite of the year is Highway Prayers by Billy Strings.

At 20 songs and 74 minutes, it’s too long, but there is a core of songs on here that is just superb, and Billy must be one of the best players of guitar/banjo for many a year.

Also listened to quite a few artists that I’d never heard of before that will be high in my top 10.
 
Like cramming for exams I’ve been listening to a lot of albums over the last few days to see what I might have missed. Won’t make a top ten just for the sake of it though, currently up to 6 or 7

I've kind of been doing similar, albums that I noticed come out and banked for later. That I couldn't find the time to either properly listen to or couldn't quickly get into, that fell through the cracks. That's outwith my top 20 off the top of my head. You realise how much music gets released in a single year.
 
Apparently making lists is a must in musics, so I'm told. So I've gone full Rob and Ob1 on this one.

Working my way through the Piccadilly Records review of the year by selectively listening to some of their picks, usually some good ones. A couple today to add to a developing list.

The only problem is to find the time for repeated listens as well as covering as broad a base as possible. Relying a lot on first impressions to pad out my ten although there are four or five have had repeated plays since release

Nice to get an indirect shout out, even if it still didn't alert me that the bar/pub might be open over here and my legal tender might be good for a pint...

Spotify has since informed me that there's another album I like more, and it didn't make any of Coatigan's long laundry lists of options either. Hmmm. I even got a "personal" (lol) 'thank you' from the lead singer.

No way I'm listening to that many albums with other threads here as BH85 notes. I'll see if I can fit a few more in to get to 10 by next week.

I listen to very few new albums being stuck in the late 60s and 70s. Of the few I listened to this year I thought the Vampire Weekend album was interesting ‘Only God was above us’. Reminded me of a few bands I like.
