We've all lied on a sickie ;-)
Everybody has up to seven days to 'self-certify' with illness. After that, proof of sickness is required by the employer, which can be signed off by any medical practitioner. That's for us mere mortals, the rules for pro-footballers might be different. There's a nasty cough lurgy going round at the moment, 2-3 weeks for most people I know, so I've no reason to doubt what Foden had/has.

Wouldn't have gone that strong - we're almost certainly going into the play-off round as it stands.
Might have been better resting some or giving less minutes. But I'm not in charge

Some bonkers comments on here. Finishing in the top 8 is still possible and those two fewer games will be much more beneficial to us finishing in the top 4.

The rags are away tomorrow in a game they have to win as they're flopping in the Europa. We are still making stupid errors with and without the ball, much better to find some consistency and confidence ahead of the derby than throw this game.

It's going to be incredibly difficult for us to win the league, but stay in the CL and anything could happen come the knockouts.

Good to see Kovacic/Foden back. I’m dreading another Walker disasterclass

Starting to lose his pace is one thing but he appears to have lost the ability to mark anybody, sense danger or do even the basics correctly. I'm shocked at how badly he has played this season.

The Boys in Blue never give in, they fight to the end. Come on City, come on City. Show 'em lads, show 'em all. Especially that Old Lady team from somewhere abroad. They think they are better than us, they are babies compared to us they were only formed in 1897!! ;-)

Especially the know nowt, alleged media types who keep attending our matches for some reason and then writing pure and utter garbage about us. The silly clack-box chuckle heads that they are, they don't know the difference between a football and a rugby ball.

Especially the Specsavers needing, whistle blowing dunderheads known as officials. Official fribble, gollumpus, milksops who can't tell the elite teams from the rubbish and I keep telling them we are the elite. We are MANCHESTER CITY, THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. You shiitake mushrooms remember what I said.

Go for it City lads, go for it. We can and will do it. :-) :-)

Disappointed to see kdb start again, 3 successive games ahead of the derby, felt like tonight should have been his rest with maybe an appearance from the bench, we don't want him breaking down again.

Correct call getting Ederson back in. Should never have been dropped in the first place. Not sure what Nunes has got to do to get successive starts. Continually produces and yet see's himself replaced by players who aren't.

Priority has to be avoiding further injuries, that lineup leaves us at risk. Let's just hope we get through it unscathed. A result would be a welcome bonus.

Walker and Lewis being the full backs just fills me with absolute dread.

Hope it’s Bernie RW, Doku LW and Grealish central like last week.
Happy with the team and think it’s about the best we can put out in the circumstances.

Would perhaps rather have Rico at RB, Walker with Ruben and becomes a more natural 3 in possession.

Depends what they have on the wings and I’ve no idea on that.
