Juventus (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

The best sides understand when they can’t compete anymore and readjust their squads.. hopefully we are one of them.

If not, bring back the Pearce :)

Nunes has legs but I would never fancy him in a 50/50 which atm we are truly dreadful at.
Nunes is shit

He’s had loads of chances to prove himself and failed miserably

An absolute waste of £50m and a complete panic buy after not getting Paqueta

He had a 5 minute cameo against Wolves where he showed more physicality than the rest of our midfield bar Kovacic all season.
Physical in running yes, but not in the challenge. Attitude is questionable as well.

I'm fine with people being annoyed. I'll let things go at the game, honestly. Emotions are high, it's a release for all of us.

But fans of every age need to realize that supporting even the most successful club in football involves more pain than success. You can't win a trophy every season, if it was easy then many clubs before Man City got money would have done it.

If this is an off season for us then it's an off season for us.
Agree. It is an off season. But who says these younger supporters should be happy about it, right? Someone has to voice their displeasure. My own long experience in sport is that the majority of supporters hate to lose and will go after anyone they deem to be responsible for their displeasure, lol...it's the nature of the beast. I could be wrong but for me the grief hoisted upon players and managers and such is all a part of earning insane amounts of money. As long as it doesn't become personal which unfortunately at times it does. I love my club. If someone takes a bad touch and it costs us, shit happens. But if someone pulls out of a tackle, watches a ball be played in, and it costs us I'm not having it, no matter what that player has won in the past...everyone has their way of looking at stuff...

Xavi and Iniesta were never 50/50 ball winners but put themselves in the right positions and closed down players with pressure. Look at the state of both goals tonight when they broke. This is embarrassingly bad. Sunday league level stuff (thats being kind).

Theres no one within 20/30 yards on both occasions….

Needs must for 4 on bounce champions. Fuk me what a load arrogant bollox. Please play the kids not weak past it players
I ain't arrogant mate, i'd luv it if he gave Wright a chance, but he should've done two weeks ago. But Pep ain't doing it, so Gundo plays.
We have to hope Kovacic is fit for Sunday to play alongside him.

He made a tackle that allowed us to counter and win the game, he's not Rodri or Kante but still defensively better than our current midfield, attitude questionable ? how ? look at Kyle Walker if you want to see rotten attitude and he's the fucking captain.

I don't think you can reduce it to the club wanting to be net spend champions.

I think they have been conscious over the shit thrown at the club, that all we do is spend money etc, and the club has proven them all wrong, again.

This is our first extended bad period in near 10 years. So the club can't be criticised over their decisions too much.
But this isn't a bad period which has issues that can't be foreseen.

Even last season for something as simple as needing to score a goal we would have Alvarez as another option. We sold him and went with 1 striker. It's hardly great hindsight that if you sell half the strikers you may struggle to score goals at certain points.

Defensively you have 5 cbs needing to play 3 positions as you don't have a left back. 2 of the cbs are always injured for at least a third of the season. If Dias, Akanji or Gvardiol get injured too you are fucked.

Both defence and up top were a problem just waiting to happen

With all this great qualities - Pep insistence on not playing youth is driving me crazy. And this has been for last 9 years.
Foden is a generational talent but still needed a lot of convincing for Pep to play him regularly. Others not so much

Before when we were winning everything it was easy to say that hey the standards are so huge so no academy player would be able to play regularly but now!
7 loses in 9 games. I would prefer to lose 7 matches while playing academy lads like Mactee or O Reilly then whatever shower of shit that gets played every single week.

Blame the club, they've put these new standards, our chairman can't say in an interview that we need to always challenge for the league and bring a trophy/challenge every season and not expect the fans to hold them to that standard. He was even quoted saying he expects a trophy. Soriano the same

Paqueta is shit as well. Overweight and can't get in the West Ham team.

Some of our recruitment/intended recruitment has been piss poor in the last few years.

The players get sold.
Not when there's alot doing it as there seems to be now. Normally it's the bloke in charge .
I think some folk have blind loyalty to pep , that's fine it's there choice, I just wana see city win and be entertaining, for me it's thanks for the memories I will never forget them, but,,,,,,,,, NEXT city will continue way after pep, as you can probably see I don't get to attached

On reflection:

The club has built its identity on Pep and his philosophy. We must not under any circumstances change because we have hit a bad patch.

The treble and 4 in a row was only possible because of the way pep wanted to play. He always says the plaudits should go to the players. Every single time we won.

Now we have lost it is no different. The players are either choosing not to perform or they can’t. We need to start getting rid of anyone who couldn’t be bothered anymore.

I know it will upset a few as the players in question have done an amazing job in the past. Everyone involved has made mistakes, the club for not planning better and for relying on pep. The players that wanted to leave should have left and those that didn’t want to leave but rather wanted to be financially rewarded for past achievements should now be told they can go aswell.

Pep should not have convinced Ederson and Walker to stay. The constant injured players no matter who should be told to find a new club.

We have gotten fat on success and lost the ruthless touch.

Time khaldoon and pep got together and wield the axe.

Football is unforgiving. In simple terms, we need to find that grit and determination again. Start in Jan.

Until then….

Sort the fuckers out Pep. Bench as many as possible.

Stop being thankful to them and show the ruthlessness that is needed. We gave the players chance after chance to turn it around and they have failed.

Nunes is decent but again he was only brought in as cover. Has done a lot better than the highly recommended Kalvin Philips.

He’s played 2 games in his Central Midfield position this season and we've won both games.. Had some good games out wide also. He’s certainly not the second coming of Yaya but have you seen the state of whats going on currently in our midfield? Got to be worth a try, cos what we have been doing in the last 6/8 weeks is frankly killing us!! Tonight 2 goals just the latest examples, in a very long line of amateur hour… Look at the state of it!!

its certainly going to get worse before it gets better. rags home and Villa away are two games where we can play into the hands of Amorim and Emery and pay the price for it. there is zero midfield discipline, positionally its a mess, everyone pushed up to pass the ball around aimlessly and quite slow, some strange long balls to wingers from opposite side, all very inaccurate, very rare actions on the wings which holds any real danger. its a dream for deep sitting defences what we do now. slow recycle of the ball, without much purpose. impotent possession. its like fucking with very soft dick. not that I would know what that is like. :D

then we lose the ball and our positional awareness is awful at the moment. all over the place. opponents imo dont believe how easily they find themselves in certain situations where they can break and 1-2 runners can create panic big time. and then the likes of Maddison looks a shit in all games after City game, but in that one he didnt believe his luck of how easy we made it for him.
