There would be no issue with having 1 or 2 players of the calibre of Doku, Nunes, Kovacic, Savinho etc. as squad guys to play a few games here and there. But we‘ve bought too many of them, and with the old guard tipping over beyond their best, we don‘t have the quality to come in and replace them.
 
When you are on a run like we are at the moment what does Pep do to stop the rot? He still persists with playing one defensive mid sitting and two attacking midfielders sat in front. This works all when and good when we have the legs to out run and out work the other team but we don’t. Gundo and De Bruyne in the same team should never be allowed to happen. If we are on this continuous self destruct circle at least change something to stop it. Have two people sitting in front of the defence to make ourselves hard to beat, sit 15 yards further back as the high line has been exposed more times than I want to forget.

We give teams what they want in order to beat us which is vast amounts of space in the full back area when the ball turns over. We don’t have the energy and intensity to win the second ball, why is Pep setting the team up to still play like we can dominate and peg a team in. Will Pep learn anything from this horror run or persist keeping it the same. You can bet your house Lewis will come in for Nunes at left back at Villa and the whole shit show will keep rumbling on.

Worst night sleep.Horrible going to sleep disappointed and waking up thinking fuck I need need to avoid all newspapers and websites (apart from this) for a few days while I get over it. Probably the worse derby defeat ever for me and i have been going since 1978 and seen some good hidings but the City teams of the past always had battle siege mentality.Yesterday was like a training ground session.. Abysmal especially against the worse rag team all of us have ever seen.We should have sent them back to Trafford with feck all.

Least we have a week off now.Might watch the Hammers tonight and enjoy a match without having to worry about anything.

Maybe got 4 hrs sleep in - you're right, a real shocker of a game and result, and even worse in the cold light of day.

Add Foden and Kova, swap Doku for Savinho, and you’ve got a deal.

Many mistakes in the transfer market coming home to roost. Players we should never have sold (Palmer, Alvarez), players we should never have bought (Phillips, Nunes), players who have served the club with honour for many years but who should have moved on by now through good succession planning and healthy competition (Walker, Bernardo?).

We could have let Eddie and KDB go to Saudi in the summer for £££ and spent the money on strengthening the defence and midfield. Ortega is just as good in goal, Foden should be just as good in the middle (but wtf this season?), and it’s clear Kev is nearing the end.

Or sell Haaland for 200+, keep Alvarez, and spend the difference on the next Rodri or Stones.

Squad too small, not enough depth, not enough real competition or succession planning. Should have been more ruthless with some of the players but they’ve done so much for the club and Pep obviously trusts them.

The injury list has been outrageous and would have crippled every other team, but we could have coped better without the mistakes in the transfer market and with a more resilient squad.

Onwards and upwards. Win the court case, spend some money in January on whatever sticking plasters we can find, fight hard for top 4, rebuild in the summer.

And? What relevance does it hold? Them days are long gone as I will be surprised if anything we ever see again will be worse than that, so does that mean we cannot say just how shit yesterday and this season has been?

whats happening is very similar to Liverpool in 2020/21. A season ending injury to their key world
class player (Van Dijk) , added to with loads more defensive injuries and an aging midfield.
collapsed after Christmas . 9 defeats in about 3 months. they recovered to get top 4.

they rightly stuck with Klopp though and were fractions away from winning the lot the season after
