There's something irresistibly old-fashioned about the Boxing Day fixture, though I bet modern players would be glad to bin it off and have the time at home. Brings back memories of getting the bus to the match after all the Christmas Day stuff and always makes me think of one year in particular, one I've posted about before but which absolutely fascinates me for how it evokes a vanished era. 1947, I think (just before my time),Frank Swift's City played Plymouth Argyle home and away on the 25th and 26th. Love the story of the players getting the midnight train down from what was then London Road station and traveling overnight down to Devon with the Plymouth team on the same train. A train on Christmas Day, just fancy! And not in sleeper cars, mind, but all sitting up in the compartments and stretching their legs in the corridors as they rolled through the night with "Taunton" and "Newton Abbott" going by the windows.

Apologies for repeating this same bit of nostalgia if you've read this before but for younger bluemooners here's a little bit of history. Oh, and God bless us, every one!
And to think people complain about the timing of fixtures now all the time. I bet some lads played better in 47 than fellows who fly down from Manchester to the South Coast these days.

Keep Ortega in please keep Rico right back play ake lb and gvardiol akanji cb .Try simpson pusey defensive mid he has the size and can tackle and win the ball which is what we are lacking .Then kovacic and Bernardo next to him.Play doku and saviniho wide with foden att mid and the viking up top.
I can only presume you've seen Pusey do that in his age group.

Bless em all, Bless em all,Dave Ewing,Bert Trautman,Roy Paul.....

If we play (big if) like we did against Forest we will win this. Kdb needs to start and hopefully Ake will be fit to start as well.

Everton have been the worst attacking team in the Premier League in the last 1-2 months. Failed to score in 5 or 6 matches.

But they've also become rather good at stopping others from scoring. Last time someone did that to them was 2nd November. And then it was just the one.
I'd be sort of surprised if anyone scores. Still hoping, though, because I don't believe a team that has been champions six times out of the last seven and was leading the table in the early part of this has suddenly become shit.

The trouble is that we are shit (at this moment in time).

highest number of clean sheets in Europe since 1/11 apparently. Would be nice if we can get at them early instead of pissing about with the ball.

What time do we think the press will start slating city fans for poverty shaming after feed the scousers is sung?
I'll guess at 5pm today
