Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Good start to both halves, the rest was turgid pap.
Haaland needs a spell on the bench, offering the square root of zip all at the moment.
After the missed pen, not much happened from us.
Doku looking well off the pace.
Phil continues to look like the invisible man, offering so little these days
Ake was very good at the back
Game was there for the taking at several points in this match and we couldn't do it, couldn't beat a mediocre Everton side.
Only 6 days until the transfer window opens, yippee.
If we had a striker back up option Haaland would've been benched weeks ago. A striker back up option, hmmmmm there's a thought City ffs

In all fairness, we were the better team out there today and could have won it. 66% possession, 24-8 in shots, more than three times the amount of XG, more than twice as much even if we dont consider the pen.
But we were playing an awful side at home and the difference should be much bigger than that, especially when we are chasing a result more or less all game. When the difference is not bigger than this, results like this happen. At least they do when are completely lacking confidence at the moment.

Most has already been said, and it's clear to all that this squad is not good enough and cant handle injuries. But that doesn't excuse that we currently are the easiest side in Europe to play against. Park the bus and we will struggle to create anything but low quality chances. Boot it long on your fastest player and you will create enough to score. Its simply not good enough and the complete lack of belief and urgency amongst our players is alarming.

That Bernie miss, red sea parted like moses..one soft touch and Pickford would have to commit..he rushes out, slide rule pass into the net near his fee so he can't dive in time = 2:0 why that outside of the boot stuff...as for the pen FFS
Scandalous choice of technique! This is the same Bernie who dinked the keeper messi-esque against Bournemouth last season, just goes to show how mentally exhausted the players are.

As for Erl we saw last season what kind of performances to expect from a tired Haaland, and we saw early this season what a fit and sharp Erl can do.

Who ever sanctioned Alvarez going and not finding a replacement should be handed a p45, Delap would've been a good back up striker, some of the transfer dealings are so confusing.

your not far off there mate, its called neglect off duty.
not far off their mate. Complacency and neglect in the transfer market. I can remember when the backroom staff were patting themselves on the back over the 40 million transfer of Palmer to Chelsea.

I am so sick of hearing that transfers will sort it, and that eventually we'll get the breaks.

The only thing that sorts this is a change of leadership. We are possibly the weakest team in that league currently. No ifs, no buts, absolute fact.

If Guardiola stays, nothing changes, and make no mistake about it we could easily be relegated.
The big danger would be that even a modest points deduction in February or March might send us down on current form. We must turn the corner soon.

Tim Cahill didn't score. That's another positive.

The blame lies at Rico Lewis in Defence. Debruyne on at 75 minutes. Not dropping Haaland.
Lewis isn't a defender. Full stop.
Waiting until 75 mins to make a sub???
Haaland???

Not in to conspiracies, but Haaland and Lewis have dodgy photos of Pep...! LOL...

Started well, dropped off, absolutely wank once they’d scored.
Hard to see how it changes. Ake will doubtless be out for a few weeks now, leaving us with 4 defenders - Lewis, Walker, Akanji and Gvardiol - all of whom are playing terribly. Midfield is a mix of those who aren’t good enough, are struggling or are physically done. Haaland is lost, Savinho and Doku flatter to deceive.
Pep could be the great leveller in all this, but at the moment is wedded to a setup that isn’t working and exposes our lack of athleticism horribly.
