Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Everything has gone at the same time
Defence - gone
Attack - gone
Midfield - non-existent
Passing accuracy - gone
Conveying chances - gone
Heads - gone
Legs - gone
Set pieces - gone
Ideas - gone

And some think this will all be solved by a couple of mediocre January transfers.

Accept the season is a write off, start now the prep for next season, stop playing players who we know will not be here, play the youngsters in their places and accept whatever happens.

Time to hit the stop button and start again.

Good post. Agree totally about the inverted full back. It’s killing us attacking wise and defensively.

Noticed firdt half how we were holding width with the fullbacks and we did look better.
Exactly! I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Gvardiol & Lewis holding the width in defence & supporting Savinho & Doku, like our full backs used to do with Sterling, Sané & Mahrez.

Everything was working well for the first 20 minutes, & then (presumably by Pep's orders) both Lewis & Gvardiol inverted, Kovacic dropped back to make a back three, centre midfield began to look congested like Market Street at 3pm on Saturdays, & there were gaping holes left out wide where our FB's should've been.

Surely our coaching team have realised this? It's happening every game, but we keep persisting with the inverted/advanced defender tactic which is leaving us defensively vulnerable. This is where our current problem lies.

A few thoughts whilst waiting in the car park.

In patches our attacking was better. Relying purely on my eyes we seemed to use the longer ball from deeper more and that worked quite well
We still stop when a break is on and can we please just stop the nonsense square ball inside which is so often catastrophic and produces nothing for hours on end.
Just f cross it at least sometimes at least we still in position then.
More snap shots needed. We do get opportunities but either spend 10 seconds telegraphic a shot or just pass it on. Have to take more shots..
But defence better Ake makes a big difference imo.

Supposedly there's an option to mute the commentary on amazon but I couldn't find it. Muted sound completely in second half. Shouldn't have to do this but it's not the first time. Any twat of a commentator criticising paying fans should be kicked off imo. I wonder, when was the last time Statler and Waldorf on today paid money to watch a football match.
Funny enough I tried to find it before the penalty but went out of amazon completely. Told myself I bet he missed the penelty while I was finding my way back on, and he had. Actually thats not in the least bit funny.

Dreadful again, not much point in keeping saying the same stuff after every game really.
On to the next game
This. Pep seems to be playing the numbers game and keep faith in what has worked for him in the past but it’s clear the style of football teams are playing have caught up with him. I’m hoping he’ll be able to figure a way out of this.

Not exactly dogs of war but everton defended well and broke fast, bit of credit to them
They were utter gash, a Sunday league team could have scored on there final breakaway, 4 against 2 and they did not even get a shot off, FFS

Think it’s more new signings being poor, players being older, players being injury prone rather than being ‘worked out’ so to speak.

The likes of Doku and Savinho would barely be good enough for a team like West Ham.
