Dani Olmo

Isn't that player Oscar Bobb? There is plenty of talk about the lack of minutes mcatee has seen so far and that's despite not having kdb available for most of it, Bobb for all of it, foden missing large parts, amongst others. If we get some of those back and available where's the room for another?

I do believe we need a striker, from the second Alvarez was rumoured to be off I was vocal about needing one, i've always said the false 9 isn't viable in this squad but right now theres too many higher priorities and we have to be realistic about what we can do in January, widespread change isn't possible in a month. If txiki does his job and gets us what we need elsewhere, i can only see a forward coming in if we are to offload an attacking player to balance it out. But then who is that going to be? Haaland, kdb, foden, savinho, doku, bobb are all untouchable for one reason or another, there's only really grealish that's expendable but nobody is giving us a fee for him so he's going nowhere either.
Bobb is a promising kid. May well turn out to be a diamond. Maybe the next Cole Palmer (leaves and becomes a star). Maybe he doesnt fulfil his potential. Time will tell. Im also not sure he can be back up to Haaland. So to answer your question, no I don't think he is (as useful as he may well turn out to be).

Mcatee has been treated pretty poorly for me. Deserved many more minutes up to this point. I dont think he can be back up to Haaland either though.

We need someone who can take some of the pressure from Halland. If they (Cunha for example) can also play AM/SS/Winger then they would be very useful imo… Haaland gets some deserved grief on here, but if he goes down with an injury we have no goals in the team. A huge unnecessary risk we should not be taking…..

I presume they do actually have until tomorrow midnight to sort? And if they don’t, Olmo is free to do as he pleases as 00:01am on January 1st?

If so, I hope the meeting with his agent recently at the Everton game tied up any loose ends.

Barcelona will pull some lever to make it happen! They had to have a player injured to get him registered at beginning of the season!

I actually agree with most of what you're saying and ordinarily that should be the priority but we've been so bad and so poorly prepared by Txiki and Pep that what should be a top priority in any normal window is now way down the list. Unless we get the opportunity to offload somebody this window, I feel a backup striker will have to wait as we look for a starting midfielder and some fit defenders as the immediate top priority.

If up to Olmo to decide can see him still trying to make it work with Barca for a while.

Is there a deadline for signing free agents?

To go into the season with no rodri back up was scandalous. I feel exactly the same about Haaland. Those 2 positions (DM/Haaland backup and/or second striker/AM) are the most urgent imo for this window, compounded by the fact the other attacking midfielders/wingers we already have don't score any goals…

We have seen what losing Rodri with no back up has done to us. If Haaland goes down we are royally screwed. There is zero reason a club in our position should be playing russian Roulette like this…

Of course we have many other issues. Keeper and right across the back line RB (Walkers finished), LB (we dont have one) and 2 injury prone centre halfs in Stones/Ake. Which will all need addressing next summer. Along with Bernardo/Grealish/KDB

Every single piece of Barca being sold off.

What happens when theres nothing left to sell off?

Barcelona wont own any aspect of their own club.
This is exactly what ffp should have prevented
They clearly are not a sustainable club in any way shape of form
Leeds United vibes on a bigger scale
Indeed. If FFP was worth its salt, Barça simply wouldn’t be allowed to be in this situation. They’d be in the bottom half of La Liga looking after their finances properly or face heavy santions while another club like Athletic Bilbao took their place at the top end of the table, giving them a shot at earning CL money regularly and winning some honours like they regularly did in early Spanish football (the original ‘El Classico’ in Spain was Real Madrid v Athletic Bilbao).

Instead they’ve gambled their future for short term insecurities to remain at the top end of the table. It could, however, see them off as a club. Their big Classico game could be against Barça B in the division below as their empire crashes down under the weight of their short sighted idiocy.

Right back really worries me considering how many goals seem to be as a direct result of mistakes from this position. DM also right up there as well as you state.

big difference between olmo being able to leave and wanting to. He started there, wants to play there and live there. Sure a compromise will be reached. Maybe a 5% chance of us getting him on a 6 month loan which would be ok.
