Yeah, that's why I believe Rashford is the best attacker in the world, I mean when you ignore those "misleading" stats, it's easy to see how he is head and shoulders the best in the league, right? I mean that's how this "ignoring the stats"game works, right? or are we only ignoring the stats when it comes to Jack?
If you have a blind spot to a particular then you can spin it to your suit your purpose. Stat padding can be misleading. Grealish still has a part to play this season regardless if you think he is creative or not.

According to FotMob, the top 10 the most chances created in PL in 2024, which, in my view reflects more accurately in terms of overall performances so far, is:

(1) Palmer
(2) Saka
(3) Tielemans
(4) B Fernandes
(5) Kulusevski
(6) L Davis
(7) Gordon
(8) Bowen
(9) B Silva
(10) Pereira
They’ve all played more games/minutes than Grealish (and De Bruyne), some have been injury free so it’s reasonably obvious they’d have more assists.

But per minute played, Grealish and De Bruyne are at the top.

It’s like Agüero. He scored a lot of goals for City but missed a lot of games; per games/minutes played, for anyone who’s scored over 100 goals, he is the best in PL history.

He is one of the biggest flops in PL history. The amount of defenders he has is amazing. Imagine if it was Mahrez or Sterling barely scoring. The whole world is laughing about this „ possession“ bullshit people use to defend Grealish scorers. No one will pay 100M for a player just to keep the ball and have no output. In no damn system and in no damn position. He is getting outscored by our defenders. If he played for United, Arsenal, Spurs whoever you would create a thread like the „ ole at the wheel“ one and laugh yourself to death. Now that the whole team is playing bad there is no one to carry him. Giving him the #10 after Aguero has been a joke to me too.
He’s never fit for more than a few weeks at a time. He’s as big a crock as anyone in the squad.

How can anyone build any momentum with this kind of interrupted streak (this is his status for every City PL game played since the start of 2023-24):

Bench-started-started-injured-injured-sub3mins-sub10mins-bench-sub15mins-started-sub15mins-started-bench-sub30mins-injured-sub38mins-suspended-started-started-started-started-bench-sub13mins-bench-sub3mins-injured-injured-injured-injured-injured-sub30mins-started-started-bench-sub18mins-started-sub10mins-injured-injured-injured-bench-sub19mins-started-started-sub12mins-started-started-injured-injured-injured-sub16mins-sub11mins-started-sub4mins-sub15mins-started-unwell-bench…

He’s only started more than two consecutive games once since the treble. As a comparison, even De Bruyne who we all think of as injury ravaged and can’t get going, started 18 of City’s 23 games after he came back from injury in January to his latest injury in September, including the last 8 games of last season and the first 4 games of this season (12 PL games in a row).

In the games Grealish has started consecutively, that’s where he’s got all of his goals and assists over these past two seasons (bar one random goal against Spurs that wasn’t within a run of consecutive games).

It’s not that Grealish isn’t good enough… it’s that he’s never fit enough.

Good job. I still see much more benched or sub appearance in your summary. Players need regular minutes to keep fitness otherwise they get injury easily especially for the big build. Remember Palmer last seasons with us? He rarely played and got injury frequently.

So I think that it is better for both parties to move on and let Grealish find a club where he can get constant game time.

That is better done in the summer than not in the middle of the season. The way the rumour mill is working it seems he is on his way ou mid season which would be a shit decision as there are slim pickings as a signing. McAtee would be an option but depth is still key. With Cancelo we still had no desperate need to enter the January transfer market (admittedly i did think it was a bullshit rumour to unsettle us when he was hastilty moved on to Bayern)

Not mid season

Nobody is laughing because at this point everyone knows possession (among other things) is how Pep wins so many titles. And no, he doesn't only keep the ball, he contributes to scoring goals and preventing goals being scored (aka winning) in ways that can't be seen in boxscore stats. Only casuals care about boxscore stats, and it turned footballers' mentality from team players toward statpadders. Glad someone like Grealish is going against the tide.

You’ll never get anywhere. Minds are made up and some fans like to see chaosball excitement over winning consistently as they’ve got used to winning.

Now we aren’t, they want to see Doku’s excitement over Jack’s control, which is more entertaining, but doesn’t win as many football matches.

Not going to slag him off, i'm just a bit 'meh' whether he stays or goes to be honest.

I do think he's way under par for what we want from him, but I also think judging him on goals and assists when Bernardo Silva has played a similar role since Haaland arrived and has a similar output does suggest that the system hasn't been set up for goals to come from the wide positions in a way they were when Sane and Sterling were playing in them.

But he can't stay fit or in Pep's good books and one (beautiful, brilliant) season probably doesn't counterbalance three very distinctly average ones. Time yet for him to turn it around, but he's running out of time and chances you feel.

I'll personally never chuck any of those treble lads under the bus, that run in and night in Istanbul with my Dad is too special for me, but it might be getting close for us to have a "conscious uncoupling".

As if team didn’t win titles before him or won’t win titles after him or no other team who wishes to wins titles can not do it without someone like him.

Such a shame that all the titles won during his period are directly attributed to him and only him. Stop doing disservice to contribution by others just bcoz you want to act like His PR overlooking contribution by other players

Fans often debate why City are winning : some say it’s Pep and the system some say it’s world class players we now have third front opening here - Grealish.

You're trivializing the discussion. Nobody said City wins because Grealish is there and they lose if he is not. What was claimed is that his presence increases the probability to win, and that replacing him with someone else doesn't make that probability to win significantly higher (and likely makes it lower). Its a probabilistic matter not a deterministic one.

I’m absolutely the same. I’ve always wanted him to do well but have grown increasingly tired of his absences.

Whatever happens his level of contribution has got to increase.

Agreed.

A lot of City fans never gave him a chance which wasn't fair.

I was always pro-Grealish but sadly since the treble season he hasn't really progressed and his lack of availability and apparent determination is a disappointment and serious concern.

It looks like it's getting towards the end of the road for him at City. I think he's one of those guys who is better suited to being a big fish in a small pond. No hard feelings, just one of those things.

I hope he can have some good performances this season then probably best for everyone if he moves on in the summer.

I was pro Grealish until the last few months
Gave him a bye ball for being shite last season as he was good in the treble winning year

He just doesn’t seem to have the hunger to make a go of it now at City
Same.

With the treble being such a high point and him being the 'poster boy' for the celebrations it seems to me like he feels he's completed football and struggled to find the drive to go again.
