West Ham (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

We should have let him go in the summer when suggestions of £100m deal to Saudi were floating around.

I doubt we'd get a quarter of that for him now that it has become obvious that he is indeed way past his best (something that was obvious to some of us since at least last season)
100% agree, same goes with Walker , turning down 30m from Bayern at the age of 32 was crazy and so short sighted.

Both players have had huge parts to play in our success but both have declined considerably in the last 2 seasons, never mind this one, the chance to recoup over 100m for both players at their age and with their contracts should have been taken.

Loyalty has come back to bite us hard this season and the same last year, but last season we got away with it with Foden,Alvarez , Rodri , Haaland and Akanji playing incredibly well, for me we often looked flat, one paced and very predictable for much of the season.

Just watched my taping of MotD and wound it on to the City game - only watched the four goals and then deleted. But what was quite remarkable was the faux statistics they keep coming up with - this is Haarland's first home goal since . . . . . . , this is Haaland's first brace since . . . . . . .! No relevance to anything on Earth, other than the Biased Broadcasting Corruption's narrative!

Yep. I've said before I don't think our actual performances last season warranted us being title winners, it was just our mentality and ability to grind out results that won us the title.

There were numerous teams playing more attractive, energetic, free flowing football than us last season.

Well, what a strange Jekyll and Hyde match that was. Going forward, we looked something like the real City we know, not very far from our best. But in defence we looked like tripe, and in midfield we are just cut through like butter in summer. We can beat the West Hams and Leicesters like that, but not a genuinely good team. New blood badly needed.

Arsenal blew the title last season at the Etihad, we were there for the taking but they shit the bed and did not go for the kill.

Also our loss to Madrid in the CL also made it possible, if we had gone into the CL Semis there was no way we were going to win the title, towards the end of the season we were very leggy and out on our feet.

Thought we played in 2nd gear knowing how poor they were. Defence seems to be dropping deeper than last season and the press from the front still not good enough. We need to make it really compact highline that will stop teams playing through us easily.

Good win that, only tainted slightly by us conceding the usual goal towards the end ...... I thought Savinho was excellent, and Haaland was much more involved in the game that he has been recently ..... you aren't gonna see a better cross or header all season that those that came together for Citys 2nd goal .... the high ball in was quite superb, it just split West Ham wide open .. as was Haalands anticipation and movement in reaching it.

Another really good move between the two players in the 2nd half then provided City with an excellent third goal too ....

Can't argue with a 4-1 win though, so , for now at least, we now seem to be heading in the right direction.

So mixed up. Abuse is abuse. Only ever hear it being redefined by those that do abuse. Not saying you do but people know when it goes too far. People know the difference between that and how you defined it.
What was said then mate? Let’s start there instead of making up scenarios and we can say whether it was called for or not.

You must be on another planet if you think that’s what the “fan” said
What was said? I prefer not to dig out my own fans that will be here long after Kyle Walker, before actually knowing the facts.

If you can provide what the “abuse” was and then we can discuss it.

Ask KDB or are you doubting him too.
Where do you sit & before we get into this discussion, as you started the conversation why don’t YOU tell us all what was actually said.

On the other side of the coin (I’m not saying I’d boo players or give them abuse) if paying fans, and some of those fans may have saved for months to watch City play, see a player not bothering to warm up, coming on and showing no interest, not even jogging, no interest - do they not have a right to say something?

The word “abuse” has been thrown around - but a “COME ON KYLE PUT SOME EFFORT IN!!!” isn’t uncalled for, I’d say.
Most people who have played football at any level have been shouted or laughed at during games for poor performances. Walker and others are well paid professionals and should expect some criticism if they are not putting it in or unable to put it in.

He like Walker are fading forces, bodies are failing rapidly and like most top pros they have difficulty handling the truth and the reality of the situation.

Never nice to see once great players decline but sadly it's part of the game.
Yes but the last 3 league games he started we have won.
MOTM in one and despite not being at his best he has contributed in the last two.

Eh? Not sure iv made anything up. Just that your comment goes from one extreme to another in trying to justify that you don't abuse, but that they do deserve something.

Because I don’t know what was said haha - hence why I wouldn’t start condemning fans yet.

What a weird response.

You keep asking this. You tell us what was said - then we can all discuss it. I doubt KDB would have reacted like he did if it wasn’t called for.

If that’s how you read it then that’s on you mate. I didn’t bring up abuse, that was another fan.

I wouldn’t start condemning City fans until I know what was said - that was my point.

If Pep screams at Kyle - “put more effort in!!” Is he “abusing” him?

Agreed. I honestly didn’t think that was even questionable until reading the other two posters opinions.
