I've liked Grealish for numerous reasons - but that said, he really hasn't produced for us at all. Yes he's great at ball retention and drawing fouls - but as a winger, his responsibility is to beat his man and deliver a great cross or beat his man and score. He's done very little in terms of assisting/scoring.

He didn’t blurt it out. We ended up having a long convo as he noticed my son was wearing a city coat and I asked the questions. It was a complete random encounter at an altrincham game. That is what he told me
So he came to volunteer information about a club employee because your son was wearing a City coat? That explanation makes it less convincing!

Not sure what happened with the #8 experiment but that seems to of disappeared after two games.

Clearly didn't implement it as effectively as Pep wanted. Whilst he certainly provided a lot more energy in the middle of the park, it's a creative position as much as one of control and Pep's commented time and time again about how Jack needs to do more in the final third.

I feel for Grealish because, much like Foden for England, our system and style maybe doesn't suit his best attributes and he was institutionalised from his time as the main man at Villa. But he did adapt and became a really key part of our treble winning side. The issue was, he was largely used as a sacrificial chess piece to occupy a couple of opposition players and then recycle the ball or play in someone else using that space.

The team now needs so much more than that from him. It needs him to beat his man and put a cross in or cut inside and bury one in the net. It can't have him playing that same role as he did in the treble season because that system has been worked out and it isn't enough. He needs to work his socks off in training and then go and show it on the pitch first time of asking. Then he'll get a run of games and be back to what we need. But I think it's much more realistic he'll move on in the summer. We won't get anywhere near what we spent on him, but he helped deliver the greatest season in our history so it's not money wasted and there will be no hard feelings.

last year I bumped into the head chef at an altrincham game.

I asked him what it was like working at city etc and he said most the players where fine. I asked about grealish as I assumed he was a likeable player.

His reply was that grealish is a massive diva and is always staying at the campus as he and his girlfriend are always having issues.

It doesn’t surprise me to see peps comments. He has continually gone to bat for him and grealish has simply not repaid the faith. Posters saying pep asks him to keep it simple and not score or assist are lunatics. Many of these same posters where quick to slag mahrez, sterling off yet these players where consistently available and produced season in season out.

I’ve long thought grealish has a problem with the drink. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him have major issues once his career is over and the structure and molly coddling he has enjoyed goes.

I hope to see the back of him as the dressing room does not need these type of characters. They need hungry, winners to achieve what they want to do. Pep has seemingly given Jack an ultimatum

Not sure I believe a player with Jack's means who is always having issues with his other half would stay at the campus and make things worse at his club rather than just use a hotel, or buy another house or apartment.

Hope no-one from City's management sees this otherwise the head chef will be looking for another job !

My take from Jack's binge drinking antics is that he has an alcohol dependency (sadly a lot of professional footballers do).

Unless he brings that under control he won't ever get back to the outstanding player he once was.

It's an illness and I wish him the best as an individual irrespective of his status as a City player.

Good luck Jack.

Where does all this talk come from that he's some massive boozer?

Sure he had a good scoop celebrating some trophies, but it's not like he's seen falling out of clubs on the lash every week. If he was, you'd certainly know about it in this day and age.

Of course he could be drinking at home. I just think you in today's world if he was this huge piss head half of this forum think, there would be a lot more evidence than just getting smashed during some trophy parades.

Have a look at The Priory's web pages on the signs of alcohol dependency and it's causes.

Jack ticks a lot of the boxes.

As it's an illness , I am not judging his behaviour but I do think he needs professional help ( and maybe staying on campus is one of the ways the club is helping him ?).
