No one says Mateus Noonsh either, which is odd because Juande Carroll at the dippers is pronounced Noo-ne-yes.

There doesn’t seem to be a rule though. Thierry Henry wouldn’t have sounded as exotic if we’d pronounced it Terry Henry, like he was from Barnsley.

I think I agree but it's hard for me to focus on anything other than "Juande Carroll."

Lol

Take a bow

For info, I am reliably informed by a Brazilian colleague that Vitor's name is pronounced something close to Hayes, the R being like a H, the eis being like aze.
Reis is translated as kings.
One for the pedants.

Having said that, maybe signing Victor Rees is just because Pep said "we need victories" ;-)

Clearly, with the signing of Reis and the potential to bring in Khusanov, we're looking to introduce some steel into our play; something sadly lacking at times this season. Unlike your typically cultured ball-playing Brazillian, Reis appears to be a hard tackling CB, albeit with a good passing range, who's strong in the air while Khusanov looks to be an absolute beast in his YouTube showreels (admittedly, never a wholly reliable indicator), launching into flying tackles and charging opponents off the ball. I fully expect to see him sent off in his first appearance!

Yeah, you're right those two do look like they'll add some much needed physicality, which is really encouraging. Also agree about Khusanov, who looks to love a slide tackle as much as Otamendi!

My concern is that if we don't address the midfield issue, whoever is placing in central defence is going to be as exposed as they are currently due to the lack of protection in midfield.

Victor Rees is his Welsh cousin
I knew a Welsh guy who was one of 13 and as the youngest names were clearly hard to come up with. His middle name was Van because that’s where he was conceived. So there is probably a Victor Rees out there.

Thats the Welsh for you.

From the highlight video I just watched, he looks incredibly raw, but Palmeiras fans seem to rate him highly, so we'll see.
