I think they are still sentimental over the defenders that won the treble, if they bought ready made and ready to go defenders, it would spell the end of the injury prone defenders and force a move. The board is still trying to hang on but it is backfiring big time.

We’ve had since Rodri’s injury was confirmed, to put the wheels in motion to get someone in.
Hopefully, once these new arrivals are done and Kyle has gone, we can get the midfielder we need to protect the defence and shut teams out.

Its looking like it could be a good window but we needed signings yesterday. Its time to solve and sign the reinforcements we desperately need, "working" on it means nothing when none has actually arrived and we are dropping very needed points as a result.
Bring in Ederson from Atalanta now. Space eater, junkyard dog mentality, enough tech ability. Basically a more refined version of Onana.
Need some grit and physicality in the midfield. Bonus that he's used to playing in Gasperini's possession and risky system.

Halfway through the month, and still no one has actually signed. Given our injury issues and the age profile of the squad has been obvious since last autumn, I'd have thought that Txiki would have been working his bollocks off on getting deals pretty much done, with the signings ready to be completed in the first 7-10 days of the month. Apparently not. Ah well; c'est la vie.

Pep and Txiki have already accepted it was a mistake not revamping the squad earlier. So what now!
These signings should be inside the doors immediately with a focus on Ederson from Atlanta for the next few weeks. We are losing points and champions league places with these draws and the slower we move, the more points we drop for the CL places.
