The last 15 mins of games...

I get the feeling City has given up on the Premier League and will be happy with 4th place, The desire is not there for me and when the going gets tough by the other team we buckle and have a soft underbelly,

Does it hurt them enough to lose or throw away 2 points when 2 up and only get a point, I know if Pep had a stronger fit squad then 5 or 6 players would not be playing or starting because they are ghosting in games

I agree with lots of comments on the last 15 minutes of games BUT when 3 up against Feyenoord Pep did what everyone was asking and replaced legs in midfield - cue a total collapse and conceding 3 goals

I really want James McAtee to do well and become a regular first team player but his high and wild shot near the end of the game gave possession back to Brentford when we should have been keeping the ball in play and running down the clock.
All very well in hindsight
If he’d scored he would have been hailed a hero
It was an excellent chance to put the game to sleep and he rightly took it
KDB would have undoubtedly done the same

Our woeful finishing is costing us the most. Some players this season couldnt hit a cow’s arse with a banjo.
When you’ve been flogged to death, or when the pressure is on because you’re only going to get one chance a game from 100 runs into channels and you don’t know when the next chance will be coming, then your mindset when the chance arrive will be very different compared to when we’re flying.

Threw away a 2-0 lead against Brentford. Conceded a stupid (thankfully consolation) goal against West Ham, performance went to shit. Lost the game against United. Threw away a 3-0 lead against Feyenoord. Gave up a 1-0 lead at Brighton.

The players just don't have the legs to make it through 90 minutes. Which is fair enough - they've worked hard over the last four years and are experiencing major burnout. But why does Pep let games linger and linger and linger without making the right changes?

For example, tonight, what does Pep see in Gundogan's recent games that suggests he could help us stop Brentford coming back into the game? What have Grealish and Doku done wrong recently that means they can't even get a game? Just how bad does Bernardo have to be to be subbed off?

I love Pep and I'm still backing him, but I just don't get his thinking at the moment. At all.
Yes we have lost 14 or might be 16 points this season from winning positions!

I would have been just as critical of KDB.

Nonsense. The execution was poor but if he doesn't take the shot then football is not for him. It was a really good chance not a hopeful punt.
We complain when players don't shoot and complain when they do. I thought he took the right option, it was just he got the execution wrong. If that went in, it's 3 points for sure.

Our problems come in transition and doing the basic, fundamental job of defending both individually and as a unit. When we were attacking the Brentford area there was generally no space. How many times did someone attempt a pass and hit it against the legs of the first Brentford defender?

Yet for their equaliser the player crossing the ball had time to pick his spot as Savinho or Gvardiol (can't remember which one) was about 5 yards off him and made no attempt to close him down.

One of the things I read about Pep when he first joined us was his defensive philosophy. If you can't win the ball back within 5 seconds then you go into a more defensive formation where one player goes to the opponent with the ball and othere form a second rank in order to intervene if the opponent gets past the first man. Yet our defensive cover parts like the Red Sea did for Moses.

Its not about fitness, age, whtever. lfc have had roughly the same age profile and performed. And it is one year since we tore it up last season) the difference between good and bad? Our shots (Most in the league) to goal ratio points towards the lack of confidence. For me anyway.

We dont have the confidence, we are fragile, the guys need to find their bollocks and make those runs, find those passes, NOT fear them. We're passing sideways around the edge of their box, or ours, afraid to lose the ball.

The last 15 minutes (Although it is whenever we go ahead, at whatever point) we are fighting our own mentality at the moment.

It has nothing to do with age or legs, it's the mindset and the hunger, Maybe they are not under pressure to produce results because of the past 10 years and 4 in a row. You do get the feeling that it's ok to come up short this season and maybe with injuries there is a reason to fall back on.

100% Pep would never let any of his players ghost in games and still be here if he had more options

Its not desire. It's legs. They don't have the legs.

They should have legs ? after 10 days of rest after West Ham at home, It is too easy for them to come up short this season because of injuries, Fitness and injuries clear up and players get time off, so I dont see why players not having legs at this stage of the season, it's playing with no pressure and mindset then desire and hunger you turn off as a team,

How can you question Pep and the players?, They have given us 10 years of greatness that will never be repeated
It's just the feeling I get watching City that its OK you have earned a sloppy season

Exactly. Either hit the target or keep possession. Don't blast it high and wide because it could cost us two points, which it did.
If only it was that easy. Just get every shot on target and never miss. No one ever misses.

Are you seriously suggesting that cost us 2 points? Not the entire defence or midfield collapsing, Haaland missing or Savinho not passing. Just that.

They didn't have the legs the whole game. It was just more glaring in the last 15 minutes. Brentford was better for large parts of th 2nd half

The longer the game goes the more our age shows. So its no surprise we tend to collapse late.

It was a terrible decision by Pep to take out Phil or to being in Gundo. Should have been Rico, O'Reilly's and Jack for Kova, Kev , and Bernado.

But most of them didn't play at the weekend vs Salford City, Also we have had 4 or 5 weeks of one game a week
Age is not the problem ? Maybe not having fullbacks and a holding midfield player is the problem

I am absolutely suggesting that a wayward shot cost us two points. To win the game all we needed to do was to keep possession of the ball for a few more minutes. We had seen how Brentford were capable of mounting very dangerous breakaway attacks in the last 20 or so minutes of the game. We had survived thanks to some brilliant defending from Guardiol and Ake but even so we had conceded a late goal. Keep the ball and win the game. Lose possession and drop two points.

He did the right thing , if it was on target and the keeper saved it they would have had possession anyway. Absolute nonsense to lay any blame at McAtees door
