I find it amazing with how long Rodri has been injured & nobody in earlier infact we are not even discussing a Rodri back up! lol glad we are bringing other players in but I’d swap all of them for a good dm

What have the club been doing for the last 3 months
I can see that patience is one of your strengths

How long do they need you think mate? As the OP states Rodri got injured in what, September? There's 3 months to plan a replacement. We also knew last year when he was suspended that no Rodri, no party. It should have been identified as a priority in the summer but it was ignored.

Half way through the window we don't look any closer to signing a player in the one position it is absolutely key we need to fill. It may have saved us 2 points last night. Over 3 months is plenty of patience I would say.

Like everyone else I know fuck all where City are up to but at least I can hazard a guess that they have been working on things for months. It’s not like going to the corner shop and buying a Mars bar. How many clubs can you tell me have bought expensive, world class players on the first day of any transfer window? Name those players and tell me how they worked out.

You can do all the thinking you want before the window nate. But until the rubber meets the road, it don't matter.

On a different note, if im a strict DM worth my weight in gold, City would be low on the list of teams i want to join.

It doesn't take much thinking to onow your future vis likely to be on the bench once the Ballon dor winner returns.

So it's not as easy as just getting any good DM. Has to be a player that can play even after Rodri returns.

Unless you are saying hand over 100 million to Newcastle :)

If thats it, then just say so :p

Only if your picking a replacement off the shelf, otherwise there are other parties involved which we have no control of.

Worth a go

Been saying for weeks give kids a go as they can’t be worse than knackered older players
They should have been getting their chance in the lesser games so we at least would know they could have been capable in bigger games. Kovacic and gundo as the 6 is just hopeless, we aren't dominating possession enough for them to even stand a chance in there. Or even have someone like walker with his recovery pace, was a get out of jail free card. Nico deserves an opportunity purely on he will cover more ground and at times that's all it is. It's wether he's good enough to retain the ball and keep possession flowing efficiently.

Perhaps O'Reilly next to Kovacic. Or Jack

I was amazed Grealish didn't come on at 2-0. Very rarely gives the ball away and can drive the team further up the pitch. I know he has other shortcomings and hasn't been on top form for quite a while, but that is still very much his skill set and I felt exactly what was needed at that point in the game. Guess he's still got some way to go with Pep to get himself into contention.

No, you can have agreements in place and deals made prior to the window opening. They can only then move in the window. We had plenty of time to have someone lined up, agreed and the finer details maximum left to do. I am not saying buy the next best DM out there, unless Pep plans to use them both together. A Luiz type situation will have suited us until the end of the season. Last year when it was recognised that we cannot play our way without Rodri, Pep should have been planning for the solution to any Rodri absence, be that a replacement or a change in style/formation. We cannot go the rest of this season without that being addressed. If we do then we won't win a bean and top 4 will be a struggle.

As above, we don't know what they are up to now. What we do know is nobody is through the door half way through this window and we had 3 months to go gung ho the second it opened. Nobody has said the first day, we are linked and apparently have deals done for other players, in less urgent positions so clearly negotiations can happen. We are half way through and without really a link to anyone in that position. It should have been the priority. We lost 3 months of our season during a time where it was out of our hands, why waste another one?

I certainly would. Pay whatever it takes to get whoever we need to finish minimum 4th this season and win the lot again next year.

Isnt 115 the elephant in the room taking a dump on the furniture that everyone seems to want to discount as to why we arent splashing mad cash on positions of need vs. making what appear to be sensible investment on unproven players?
Our midfield shortcomings are glaring yet unaddresed now two windows in a row if not more.
We have spunked points after being in a position of taking all 3 as a result of unacceptable cover in midfield MANY games this season as recently as less than 24 hours ago. If we had even half of those points back we'd probably be in 3rd at worst.
I know the blue tinters (specs and hair) dont want to admit it but without 115 hanging over us would we be here?
I think if the 115 was a major part of our thinking and a reason not to go for players we would be unlikely to splash what looks like a decent wedge on Marmoush.

The Gundo addition was the problem. Once he put Gundo on , his mind was on Mcatee wanting more minutes and egging to leave. So he put him on late.

Frankly, based on performance, you wanted, O'Reilly and Jack coming in. Can hold the ball and have some fight in them..

Mcatee didn't add anything to a team already ahead. Should he have started? Maybe. But there was no reason to bring gim on based on his senior history.

The club you’re buying from!

Are you summing or naive?
No, there is just no universe it takes over 3 months for them things to happen. We also aren't in a position to slow that process down. If it is a case of fees then get it paid and save our season. We lost another two points yesterday which may not have happened with legs in the middle. Just seems a daft risk to not pay more short term for long term gains like CL football. That's where I would assume we aren't haggling with anybody currently.
