My old fella, who was a decent centre forward on the amateur scene thought Denis and Jimmy Greaves were the best finishers he ever saw.

For Denis to be remembered by both sides of the same city as a phenomenal footballer and a great human being is something special!

My first ever shinpads bought by my grandad were a dead thick pair with Law's autograph on them. No idea where he got them from in the mid-late 80s! Might even have been my dad's when he was a lad.

Anyway, meant I always had a soft spot for Denis.

My soft spot for him grew whenever he was interviewed. Seemed a top bloke and was very clear on his fondness for City, as well as United. I seem to remember in one interview about 20 years ago he mentioned he had four sons, three reds and one blue. Probably proportionally right based on his career!

Sad news. I never saw Denis play, but plenty in my family did and remembered him fondly. I do remember seeing him walking in to Maine Road and someone congratulating him on his back heel! RIP to a legend.

He was thankful to City for taking him on after his shabby exit from United. Tommy Doc promised him a new contract and a coaching position but then did an about face and gave him a free transfer which Law found out about via the news media.

Saw his debut at Maine Road, I couldn’t believe what I was watching he was so much better than anything we had at the Club.
