Never seen him have the ball fully under control. It’s always running away from him and he’s slower than me, which is saying something.
Gives me a heart attack when he’s on the ball and we’re trying to build up near our own box. Also hate the way he runs with the ball all the time into a dead end and ends up losing it. Just not good enough I’m afraid.

He came on when we were winning against Utd and we lost the game. He also started the game against Villa that we lost and the game against Everton that we drew.
ManU game was his first game back from injury and both goals were unprovoked. We were I. Control and then the penalty.. try a better case pls.

Agree totally. We look super exposed whenever he plays. I can see why he didn’t hold down a spot at Chelsea

Having slept on this and thought about it, here’s my gripe.

Tommy Doyle in there is twice the player he is and off the ball would work 10 times harder.

Would rather play Nico in there and miss top 3 at this point because we’re guaranteed nothing with Kovacic playing. At least we could develop someone in there and they may actually put a shift in.

He might not be a defensive midfielder, but he is a top level professional football player who does play in midfield who did move into the 6 when Rodri pushed further forward last season. Between him and the coaching staff they need to be working together to make sure he’s far more disciplined defensively, even if it’s not his natural position. If he does go rogue, running out of position to win the ball back and being bypassed, someone else needs to fill in where he’s left a hole.

This is fairly basic team play, it’s not like it’s complex progressive patterns of play with the ball.

A 19 year old played left back a few days ago… he did well and he’d never played there before in his life.

Well that was one of his best performances ever in a City shirt, his creativity and passing was superb and that was a brilliant goal too, I feel like Kova could've been a far better player in his career if he didn't get those constant injuries that disrupted his seasons, let's hope he stays fit.

Where the hell has this performance come from?

Hasn’t even come close to that before.

Looks like a fire lit under his ass.

From last game to that is surreal.

He's a good player who's been asked to play in midfield on his own, all season.

He'll be a good asset for the next couple of seasons, when Rodri is back

Class today but had people to pass to when breaking through midfield for once, probably helped having Gundo next to him nice and fresh
