I get it being on the books for the occasional historical injustice, but the routine way that presidents feel like they have to pardon a bunch of people during their term is either a gross distortion of justice, or an admission that the justice system is completely broken in the first place.

Ignoring the obviously political way it is now being used.

I can’t understand any democracy allowing an elected leader to go around pardoning people convicted by the justice system.Added to cancelling trials or not punishing a man found guilty of crimes because he is the president, and appointing hand picked non elected law makers to positions in government. If it was some third world country’s president they’d be called a tinpot democracy.
