I read some time ago that Stones has a chronic hip problem. It is fixable but the rehabilitation time is anything up to 12 months. It is not considered viable due to his age. (I can’t find/ substantiate this, apologies). Apparently it will always cause injuries elsewhere as the body attempts to compensate.The foot injury could be handled better but that (possibly) is down to the boot Stones is using and whether it can be adapted.
Added here for context - gutting as without injury he is a brilliant player, and has been even with injury problems
