Why don't we put grealish in there alongside kovacic. Grealish is composed and kovacic can do the leg work.

I don’t think that strategy includes making impulse purchases of unsuitable players half way through a transitional season. I agree with you that we’ve waited too long to refresh the midfield but the end of the summer window will be the time to judge favourably or unfavourably how well the rebuild has gone.
Why not buy, just for laughs. A midfielder...??Surely if we sign enough centre backs one of them could play midfield if they ain't covering for not having fullbacks.

I don't think Gundogan and KDB will be retained. Long term, our midfield is fine imo. Rodri, Kovacic, Bernardo, Foden, Grealish and you could possibly add Marmoush as a no. 10 in the role KDB used to play if we play Savinho and Bobb on the wings. O'Reilly and Macatee look like they could make it too. It's the defence that is an issue as only Gvardiol seems to be fit to play every week.All too old.
Of the 4 I’d only keep Kev because even though he’s too old his quality is still apparent. The other 3 are officially shit nowadays imo.

Thats midfields not fine though. It’s a rodri injury away from being the same shite it is now. We need a proper unit to hold it together if hes out. Nico @ 75% is the only player we have like that.We need a rugged box to box athlete who also needs to have tactical nous and decent technical ability

Yes fair enough. But given what we have right now why can’t we go with a Kova, Nunes , Grealish midfield? Maybe not top class individually but as a unit cant be worse than what we saw yesterday?recruitment big part of problems. we should fight a lot more for keeping Alvarez or Palmer but maybe less when Walker or Ederson wants to jump ship to Saudi as thats kind of sign of they are ok to check out but we did it the other way while Palmer and Alvarez will be crucial players over next 10 years in top football.
and obviously we did bring in midfield reinforcement but those were Phillip, Nunes and Gundogan. just not good enough.
