PSG (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Akanji was hands down our best player tonight, It wasn't even close.

He was having a really good game, Until everything went to shit when we leaked the first goal.

Akanji is a much better player when Ruben Dias plays alongside him, Reminds me of years ago when we played Lescott and Nastasic together or Kolo Toure and Lescott together...Absolutely bobbins, Once Kompany was alongside either of them they are much better with leadership alongside them, We have that problem when Dias is missing.
I’ve never been a fan of his, he was lucky that their first ‘goal’ was offside as he put in no effort to stop it, but I do agree with your comments about being better alongside a partner who is a leader/ Organiser. I just see Akanji as a bargain basement back up, which is exactly what he was.

Was at the game tonight pissed wet through and freezin. It was quite saddening to see some of our players in the twilight of their careers running through treacle in that 2nd half. Plus I’m struggling to see Rico with a future with us as he’s so easily knocked in ff the ball. PSG are not a brilliant team either but they were twice the athletes we were. There will be some average players propping us up until we rebuild over the next few seasons but it’s been an absolute fkin blast.

So much for that bollocks posted yesterday saying 1 or 2 points from the last 2 games would be enough.

I didn't believe it then yet now only a win and 3 points will do.

Who did the fucking maths Niall Quinn and Steve Lomas :-)

Didn't think PSG were much of a threat up to 60 minutes. We were quite solid. Nothing glamorous but we were doing a good job. After 60minutes we collapsed and were steamrollered.
What you going on about m8. They hit crossbar, very unlucky with kneecap offside/ Josep cleared off lime and generally outrun and out muscles ALL over the.fukin pitch. Ffs get ya glasses checked

The big mistake was Nunes on the first PSG goal diving in, which totally exposed our right side. That first goal for them was so important. He does not do the basics and makes crucial mistakes at key moments. At 2-0 your first duty is to defend and not to expose yourself to PSG's pace in transition. Some players understand their role in key game situations, others make the same mistakes and do not learn from their errors. It is the difference between a top player and an also ran. I expect him to be dropped for the next game as these sort of mistakes are not acceptable at the top level. If we had not conceded so early after our goals, there would at least have been a chan̈ce of getting a crucial draw.

THE big mistake is alot more plural than that m8

A draw tonight wouldn't have been such a bad result.
It would have meant a draw against Brugge would see us through.
Now we need a win

Just need 4 wins away in London!
First Orient, later Fulham to clinch 4th spot, rags at Wembley and finally that chuffing court case.

I didn’t watch the match but when I know that Dias is off and Ake is not available I know we are fucked. Akanji being the leading CB is and joke and we don’t have a right back. That’s why the focus of this transfer window is on the back line.
Signing a 20 and 18 year old centre half from abroad does not solve either of those issues in the short term
