It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

A few journalists have parroted this today. It’s clearly a brief from the club. Sounds like stones is the answer according to pep!

I’m honestly lost for words
Strikes me as the kind of leak that's made for leverage in negotiations.

You don't like what we are offering Juventus (or whoever we are talking to)? We can just fill that spot with someone we already have.

Now I don't think it creates much leverage as there's zero credibility in that idea. If we could fill the void in house, things would have looked a LOT different in November and December. And yesterday.

Other than pushing Gvardiol or Akanji up (no point considering Stones), there are no internal answers for the role. Even those two don't exactly strike anyone with confidence this season

Yeah just saw it.
What a shame and what the hell our scouts doing if the best they can come up with is a Euro winning Spanish midfielder or a 25 year old Brazilian playing for a team trying to win the Italian league.

What’s next by them - Pedri or Kimmich or someone else we already know and is unattainable
Would that be a surprise though. It was only a few summers ago we went from bidding for Rice to buying Nunes.

Our list of options seem to be Plan A, nobody else, then panic buy very average player.

Buy Luis.

Pay 35m and lower wages 2 year contract.

1. Fits in and we finish top 4 and qualify for CL next season. Plays alongside & cover for Rods. Loss = 35mill

2. Dead duck. Bung out on loan or sell for 10 mill Loss190 mill = ( Loss of prize money PL, appearance money TV, CL TV and group stage earnings)

3. Hope these new guys are magicians.

Yerp, but we know there is no chance of Pep playing youngsters or Nunes etc there. Ah well, If we don't sign a midfielder we know that the club must be ok with the prospect of not finishing in the CL spots as there's no fucking way we are with that midfield
we'd have seen Akanji moved to DM in the salford tie if this experiment was on the cards i reckon

doubt it personally.
I think the clubs initial thought when Rodri got injuried was that they hoped the squad could somehow handle it. But in the last few months it's been painfully obvious to everyone thats clearly not the case. On the other hand we are over 3 weeks in on a 1 month window, currently in our toughest fixture run of the season and we still dont even have a credible link to a potential midfield target so who knows. The only thing thats certain is that this teams needs midfield reinforcements urgently and none have arrived.

Just because it's been parroted by journalists who don't make clickbait from us, doesn't mean it's true & it could be City trying to keep the price down

5-10 in the table is pretty tight, points wise. Other teams know our weakness. It's possible we don't even make the Europa League if a solution, whatever that may be, isn't figured out.

yeah if it came out at the start of hte month id be more inclined (but not much) just doesnt add up for me now.

You are correct in that just because a journalist writes it, it doesn't mean it's true. But I doubt its some kind of an attempt from City to keep the price down when everyone in football knows we dont have any solutions within our squad, evident by our results in recent months. You cant bluff in a game of poker if the opponent can see your hand.

gonna chalk it up to clickbait purely based on the chat here, we;ve all jumped on it. job done for the lad.

Alluding to you poker anology City are saying if you go all in they will fold & it could be a case of City portraying they won't be held to ransom, which they have previous for
