£1 pints at Brewdog bars

Just read up on him. He sounds like a ****.

BUT…..I agree with the general gist of your post. I doubt anyone carries out due dilligence on the owner or landlord of every single pub that they walk into - or every single shop for that matter - so I’m sure there are plenty more cunts than James Watt and Tim Martin in that industry.
Take a bow, Humphrey Smith, chairman of Sam Smith's brewery. The charming multimillionaire, Mr Smith, is reported to walk long distances to avoid taxi fares and uses a bus pass. Straight out of a Dickens novel, he holds conservative Christian views that include opposition to premarital sex and divorce. His management style is highly controlling, with Smith known to personally visit pubs to enforce company rules, occasionally resulting in immediate closures and the summary sacking of all staff. On one occasion, a pub in Sheffield was closed after it failed to serve his preferred dessert! Notices in every Sam Smiths pub make clear that use of all electronic devices (including mobile phones) is forbidden as is swearing. Also, you'll never find music, TV or fruit machines in one of his pubs. As someone who occasionally drinks in the Crown in Glossop, I can testify all this is true. While not for everyone, if you're seeking an escape from the stresses of the modern world and a return to simpler times, it's just the job!

Why do you think he's a **** ?
The guy is a self - made multi -millionaire,he operates a very successful chain of pubs, and every time I go in any Wetherspoons pub, they are always busy. So his policy of providing cheap food and drinks has proven to be very popular with the UK public.
And although I have never worked in one of his pubs, I am led to believe that his staff are well paid for the job they do.
The fella has certain political ideals, so to many left leaning posters on the politics thread, he's a ****.

To me, he's a bloke that sells cheap beer (and if I'm starving, cheap food), therefore, he'll do me.

P.S. The Wetherspoons in Harrogate is beautiful

Exactly my thoughts pal.
I honestly don't give a fuck about his politics, as they used to say back in the day -
" I'm only here for the beer" !!
Me and the wife go to one or other of the Wetherspoons that are in every Greater Manchester town once or twice a week.
It gets us out and about at a reasonable cost that we can afford. So as you so rightly say, Tim will do for me.

Was he on about the wetherspoons owner or Brewdog?

The Brewdog owner doesn't pay his staff well (or didn't when he left)

Pays minimum

I commented that I had bought a pint of Worthington Creamflow from Wetherspoons in Glossop,so I can only assume he was calling Tim Martin a ****.

To be fair to Tim and Humph, James Watt is on a completely different level an alleged sex pest and he looks like Andrew Tate and that's just for starters.

Ah fair play.

I only know more about James Watt as he is a massive hypocritical bell end.

It was posted tongue in cheek along the lines of the posters who were pulling up the OP for drinking in Brewdog. FWIW, I do think Tim Martin is a bellend with some of the stuff he's come out with in the past but I agree that his pubs offer a great range of drinks at decent prices and what I might think of him as a person won't put me off going in a 'spoons.

Been going on all week but still time to catch it tonight and tomorrow. Just go to the bar and ask for "a one pound pint of punk please".
Not a fan of Punk IPA personally, but you can't moan for a quid surely! Checked the T&Cs and there's no "1 per customer' limit so fill your boots.

Drink responsibly...

Edit: the last time I ever try to save you all a few quid! Miserable wankers
Alright that punk.

99p a pint in 1995 according to this

A far cry from my first official pint in 1969 at 1s:10d.
It had just gone up from 1s:9d. The shit really did hit the fan when that happened.
In saying that in 1966 in the works club, you could get a Guinness for an highly subsidised 6d.

You are getting your currency symbols mixed up.
1969 currency was 1s. 10d .
p symbol didn't come into use until D - day ( decimal day) until February 1971,
when old style pennies became new pence .
Conversion rate was 2.5d to 1 p.
