I remember an interview with Paul Lambert about his first game for Dortmund. He spent the first half clueless, shitting himself, and ran into the dressing room at half time and demanded someone quickly teach him how to say 'Left' 'Right' and 'Man On' in German!

I would play Akanji as the inverted RB. Kev would be ahead of Kova and on the left. Phil and Marmoush could interchange at times to support Erling.

Best options for midfield (imo)
1. Drop Kova, play Wright next to Gundo.
2. Drop Kova, play Akanji next to Gundo.
3. Play Gundo and Stones.

Id have wright in but Kova instead of Gundo

We'll surely see some of the new boys in this. We cant play Khusanov or Reis in the CL so i would guess Pep will protect Stones and or Ake for that game and play at least one of them. Preferably Khusanov to keep Neto in check.

Marmoush must be a shoe in hopefully

Walker: who’s been on the decline for 2 years. He’s now gone and still not been replaced.
Ake/Stones: majorly injury prone
Lewis: (is he even a defender?)

I hear you, problem is, Kova's passing is not expansive, he's a "keep it ticking and move the ball" type player.

Remember those long balls in behind the full back Rodri used to play for Mahrez/Walker? Or the ball over the top for Haaland?

Gundo can play those all day, his problem is;
1. vacating the middle zone and trying to join the attack so high up he cant get back to defend transitions.

2. He's lost that nimble Xavi/Iniesta pirouette turn that used to get him away from his presser.

If we can get some legs around him to do the running and pressing, for me Gundo is a far better option than Kova.

(Also, i wouldnt play Kev and Phil together)
