Andrea Cambiaso

No way Juventus would turn down close to £60m.
I agree. Once we bid, he is ours. They are clearly ready to sell him. Our management is probably evaluating all options, but a Cancelo regen with a better attitude and a higher potential sounds incredible. He is more versatile too. Otherwise, why did we loan out Kyle Walker? Kyle obviously declined a lot, but if we are not buying a replacement, then it's pretty pointless.

We do but pep won’t and doesn’t change his tactics anyways. He will tell us that football is heading into a new era with transition football being at the top but we will continue playing with 3-4 CB every game. I just realized that the reason why the numbers of our wingers have dropped is the constant 1vs2 they have. As you mentioned no overlapping and clogged center. Expecting wingers who always have to go against 2 defenders alone to score 15+ is outrageous. Cambiasso should be a start but who knows what Pep is planning. In the end he might end up being our CDM.
If we bring in that many fullbacks what happens to the CB some will have to go and not just eventually but in the summer

Liverpool are about to have major issues due to FSG not wanting to pay certain contracts. Konate the next one who’s wanted by PSG with his contract running out in 2026.
Dont disagree. Totally different subject tho to the OP

Not sure that's true, thin they did a bit more than just buy 3 starters

You could argue they bought 4 as you'd include Gakpo in that list who was a Jan signing, a player they had to buy because Dias and Nunes hadn't properly replaced Mane or Firmino

Also understated the signing of Endo who was important for them last year and Ramsey who's potentially gonna be the new Trent Arnold... and as noted they haven't preflered THAT well where they are losing the best player in the world and the most creative right back both on FREES
Ok. Maybe 4 then. Thats still half the issues we had at the start of this month though. GK, RB, LB, CB, DM, AM, Wingers, Second striker (granted marmoush is now here) all need led looking at

Window hasn’t closed and we’ve signed players. Who knows how they will settle or how many more will come in or if Rodri comes back at his level. My thoughts are that the club is on a strong platform to re-build from - from Pep extending, Haaland extending and the club structure and investment.

The whole debate has come from a statement you made about us having ‘literally got nothing right since the treble’. That’s not true is it? Not even about feelings, just factually untrue.
We havent got much right. I provided a long list of errors. What do you think we have got right?

Lets hope we get what we need over this window and the summer. I think were not quite as strong a platform to build from but all about options.

You sound like spoilt a child.

We won a fourth consecutive title 6 months ago. A feat never achieved in over 150 years of English football history

It’s literally the greatest achievement our club has ever had!

We have had the worst injury crisis I can remember since supporting this club for over 40 years, which has coincided with a drop of of some of our greatest ever players.

Our club in emphatically run. We have just signed the two best young CB in the World, and the most in form Striker in Europe.

Go and sit in the corner ffs
What? For living in reality. If we can admit we’ve made huge mistakes from a position of strength then we’ll never fix the issues.

Its not about looking back, thats gone. Unfortunately i think Pep/Txiki have been guilty of what you are and were paying for it.

No one's infallible, City included. The way to look at it is we've got far more right than wrong, & our recent success bears that out.

HOWEVER, this was built on a small elite squad who remained remarkably fit season after season. Where I agree we got things wrong, was not going big after the treble & starting the succession planning in earnest.

We knew our squad was ageing & under stress, but did little to address those player concerns. Rodri is a case in point.

50% of resolving an issue is recognising you've got one in the first instance. City have openly admitted we've fucked up on that score. This is the fourth window since the treble, & the first one where we've made a determined & concerted effort to correct our squad succession planning failures. Taking decisive action is the remaining 50% of resolving an issue.

Alas, it'll probably take another 3 windows until we fully rectify the situation, so the best we can do is hang on in there until we've rebuilt our squad & they settle down into the next iteration of a Pep Guardiola elite football team.

Agree, but think it’ll be done quicker than 3 windows. No way owners won’t come out bigger in the summer.

it's funny how i have never seen any comments regarding txtki when city was doing well its was all about how good pep is the reason peps stayed so long is what txtki and the board have put together yes txtki has made mistakes but he gets so much hate from city fans have some shame we wouldn't have had this level of success without him

Agreed, I think we've got three big windows ahead of us that'll mean the eventual replacement of Walker, Gundog, KDB, Stones, Aké, Bernardo, Grealish, Philips, Nunes & Kovacic.

Most will be down to age, injuries & them coming to the end of contracts. However the moving on of Philips, Nunes & Grealish I think will be because they'll be deemed surplus to requirements, & them taking up much needed squad places.

It'll be impossible to shift & replace the lot in one window, especially those in contract, plus we have to get the right replacements & give them a season or two to bed in. It would've been better if the replacements were already here & bedding in, ready to replace that 11, but it is what it is.

The main thing is City are taking action. Better late than never I suppose...
