A team-mate of the goalkeeper is penalised for encroachment only if: the encroachment clearly impacted on the kicker; or. the encroaching player plays the ball or challenges an opponent for the ball and this prevents the opponents from scoring, attempting to score or creating a goal-scoring opportunity.

As the kicker was the only person ‘prevented’ from scoring and, because it hit the post, he wasn’t actually allowed to even touch it let alone score from it, that criteria was clearly not met.

The part of the law you're talking about is irrelevant because he played the ball. You are relating the bit about preventing an opponent from scoring to the second bit but it has nothing to do with it.
