Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

It’s amazing how our second goal is being spun as a mistake by Sanchez, rather than a brilliant chip by Erling.

That’s the British sports media for you.
The chip was simple, to be honest - the impressive bit was heading it on to himself and following it almost before he landed. He should earn an assist and a goal for that.

All of social media has implied that had Palmer scored his opportunity we would have been done for. Well I'm calling bullshit on that narrative.

I seem to remember Gvardiol missing 2 sitters and Foden smashing the post before we equalised so in fact we should have been leading 4 - 2 at half time if you want to count unfortunate misses or poor finishes in games. That's not to mention the 2 slight offsides where we could have scored another 2 so stick the "should have been 2 up" narrative where the sun doesn't shine.

It should be simple but so many times I've seen players in a similar situation and not get enough height on it.

He executed it well, and did brilliant to even create the chance. Keeper was still shocking though.

When we play our normal style and don’t win the pundits say Pep doesn’t mix it up to adjust in games. When he does they write articles calling us a long ball team. What do you want him to do lads

Reminded me of one of Agueros finished....cant remember who it was against

Keeper was culpable but still an amazing world class finish...if the keeper is where he should be it doesnt happen however.
Liverpool. vs Pepe Reina.

Aguero's was pretty much from an impossible angle, so can't really fully blame the keeper's positioning then, just pure magic from Kun.

After the Liverpool game, MotD managed to create a "top three" table.
I got in just as they did that - so thought it meant they hadn't shown our game yet - so, didn't bother going onto iplayer, just dozed there waiting for us to come on - thought I must have slept through our match until I was awake enough to check iplayer.

Haaland is fantastic. A battering ran with a subtle finish. It is bizarre how the English media want to do him down. He’s already an icon in global football and the biggest star the PL has got.

The most astonishing goal I've seen scored by a City player. Possibly the most astonishing goal I've seen, full stop. The keeper has to come initially. Furthermore, given how wide Sergio's being forced, there's no reason to think there's any danger. If you look carefully, Sergio is on radar. He doesn't appear to look. He has maybe ten percent of the goal to aim at.

Edit: a goal that you can look at again and again, and you still don't really believe it.

Do you think that City's performance and result, coming back from a disastrous start, has really pissed everyone off ?
The media and the Red-Arse cheek fans are desperate to tag City as "bottle merchants".
They cannot after Saturday's performance and result, but IF Chelsea had gone 2-0 up (especially if Cole Palmer had scored !), their wet dream would have been complete.
City showed on Saturday that Pep and the team are up for the challenge and the fans are behind them...

Cole Palmer shite again against us,he seems ok when up against teams lower down the table.
I'm not sure why certain of our fans want to engage in a bit of Palmer bashing. Let's be honest hes been fucking magnificent for Chelsea and single handedly dragged them to the brink of the top 4 with his goals and assists. He simply would not have had the game time at City to improve at the rate he has under Chelsea, rightly or wrongly under Pep.
He wanted to move as he was no doubt guaranteed more playing time than we were prepared to give him. We got what was considered a sizeable and fair fee and the move has suited everyone all round. He hasn't openly dissed the club since he left AFAIK. As a product of our academy I can be pleased with his achievements (when hes not playing us obviously). I don't get the animosity if i'm honest.
