Depends if we want a 2/6 hybrid this window and address the whole midfield when Rodri is back in the summer.

It makes sense.

But it also makes sense for it to be a rumour with no substance.

Kimmich is 29, turning 30 next month but he's a bit like Bernardo he jsut wants something new

He's world class and while he may not fit the age profile he's exactly the kind of player Pep would want and would be a world class partner for Rodri who has the skills to deputise for him

He's vastly superior to Kovacic in almost every way

Also I think if you want pace and power from our new CM think you'll be disappointed that's not typically the midfielder Pep goes for

For me it's a no brainer, nothing wrong with adding some experience and world class ability for a shorter term fix (Kimmich can play his style for 3-4 more years)

I agree, all our forwards are very young or inexperienced in our league with the exception of Haaland..

Our defensive reinforcements are young, Cambiaso would be young and untested.
We need a few old heads around

Kimmich unlike our 30 years old won’t be completely burnt out.

Bernardo is still great, but the lad hasn’t had more than a couple of weeks off in 8 years with us and is more often than not, the lad asked to do the real hard yards.

If everyone is young and inexperienced you get Chelsea. No one dictating the play, no one dictating the tempo. You need experience for that.

I’d like a young aggressive and mobile centre mid, but we also need players who control the game.

He keeps the ball. If you keep the ball you have less running to do. Just like we used to play.

Kovacic is a far better carrier and Kimmich a better passer.

But everyone isn't though... We are getting younger players because we have a truck load of 30 year olds. If we need experience, keep some of our 30 year olds. Not import new ones who have to learn the system. best experience comes from time in the system, not just sge. Besides, lots of a young guys are Uber experienced. Erling, Phil Josko, may be young but they have lots of experience.

I tend to agree, and I love Phil, but yet to show any kind of top level ability to run a game.

The problem with our 30 plus lads is they’re burnt out. Ball squad, later stages if every competition every year.

We really do need an injection of energy and legs and we’ve started that. I just don’t think k the sole focus should be on age.

I am a little sad Phil has become more KdB, and less Silva.

I feel like alot of our midfielders have become that, more obsessed with goals and assists.

There is nothing wrong with that, but I wish we had a Pedri sort of metronome player, that was more Silva, or Gundogan-esque in which goals and assists were in ADDITION to their primary role of making the team tick.

It's happened to McAtee too.

My hope, is that while we have seen Bobb play on the wing last season, he has the potential to be a player like that for us, we have plenty of wingers.

Don't think a single DM guarantees anything given the current condition of the squad

Which says to me that this season is being viewed as a transitional one with the main focus being CL qualification into the knockout rounds, & CL qualification next season based on our league position.

That we haven't resolved our CDM issues suggests two things. Either we'll pull a surprise rabbit out the hat between now & the window closing, or our main target isn't available until the summer. Either way, I feel City will go big to find competition & cover for Rodders.

We've been stung by Philips & Nunes, so rather than scraping the B & C list barrel, I reckon we'd rather wait for the precise player we want. For me, that's got to be Aurelien Tchouameni.

He's the right age & has the skill, technique, physicality & power to succeed in the PL. He could easily cover Rodders & offer competition to him in general, but he could also play with Rodri in a double pivot. At 24 years old, making a concerted effort for this calibre of player is a no brainer IMHO.

Would help us a lot defensively (tackling, aerial challenges, aggressiveness, ground covering etc.), but I'm not sure if he's the right player to pair with Rodri. I feel like we need someone with a little bit more technical ability in the final third, like gundo, bruno g etc. However, Tchouameni would be a perfect player to help us RIGHT NOW or when Rodri is not available.
