Phil McNulty trolling the world in his Q&A on the bbc right now:

"Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth moving into and around the top six so maybe the gap is closing. I really hope so because the feats of those two have greatly enhanced the Premier League this season – and wouldn’t it be great if clubs could break through the glass ceiling and the league did not become some sort of cartel?"

You hang out in the gutter, you develop gutter habits. Sad indictment of the industry over here...
the weird thing is with journalism is that its not even a necessary industry, its marketing more than anything else, they forgot about reporting actual news a while ago and now just try to shape peoples opinions by spouting utter nonsense.

Hi Pep would you be embarrassed if you go out tomorrow.
What will your team and tactics be?

Must be a low in questioning.
That's a great question to be fair.

You are guaranteed a headline no matter what he responds, and it gives Pep a chance to rant if he wants to (which he didn't this time)

Very negative though. Doubt they would ask another manager especially after so many years of qualifying. Has he ever asked united s manager if he's feeling embarrassed after one of their many early exits.

Always notice that. They seem to have respect. These uk journalists are full of their own self importance.
I think it's the same everywhere though. Italian journalists and Spanish journalists absolutely savage the managers in their league. Gary Neville was talking the other day about how he got asked 7 times in a row if he was going to resign which wouldn't happen here.

The British press according to various managers are different from others in a few key ways:

1. They don't know football as much as the Europeans. In Italy, they will constantly ask tactical questions after a loss and why the manager didn't do this or that. UK is more personality focused.

2. As part of personality focus, personal lives are often fair game in the way that they often aren't elsewhere.

3. Their purpose abroad is seen as to hold the management to task for the fans of that club, including loud minorities. Here it's more asking questions that will create headlines that will write the story that they already want to write.

Great points.

It remains the case that they speak to Pep like they wouldn’t dare to speak to Baconface.

The Gary Neville thing makes me laugh though. He was absolutely tripe at a great Spanish club. Given the job because he was a mate of the owners, lol. No wonder they kept asking him if he was going to resign!

I really wish Des Lynam was the owner of United, Neville would be in charge there now as well.

Pep basically told them all to go fuck themselves. British media made to look fukin pathetic by the last few overseas journalists who defined themselves by referring to Pep as “Coach” and asked really relevant questions
The only thing worse than the usual culprits is the People at City who organise these press conferences
If I had the job I have those overseas guys on first and prime Pep and let him give long in depth answers….. basically run the clock down and call the “embargo” or whatever the fuck that is leaving the cunts to fight it out for the last two or three minutes
