Sounds like the 2025 NDJ. Might be a useful squad addition as he’d add a different option.

Can he play any other positions?

If not, we may as well find a younger, cheaper destroyer.

Fair play if we get both of them in.
 
One things for sure, if we think we can see this season out with the current midfield personnel , there will be no top 4 (or 5), never mind UCL last 16 progression.
We have only had 4.5 months to get this lined up!
All our Chickens came home to roost after the abysmal midfield effort v PSG following people wetting themselves over the performance v Ipswich.

Rodri took a while to get up to Fernandinho's speed and Fernandinho was incredible but Rodri was never shit or even close to it, our fans just couldn't handle the concept of a DM who wasn't very fast.

I partly agree. However, you are assuming that Ederson would be brought in as the next Rodri partner / definite starter. If that is the case, I am hugely underwhelmed, but if he is brought in as a long term kovacic or gundo or nunes replacement / as an energetic and hard-working squad player then I can see the vision.

In other words, as long as signing ederson doesn't rule us out of signing baleba/bruno quality of a player in the summer, I would be happy with the signing.

Pep did mention that maybe he needs a bigger squad in the future so this might be a step towards that.
 
might be unfair on both players but it scares me to death getting some midfielders from Serie A and throwing them into the Prem during the business end of the season. Just such a different type of football than in Italy which usually does not lend to a quick settling in period.

I haven't seen much of him but would he be the ideal replacement for Phillips, some who can take the workload off Rodri
