Atmosphere 2024/25

I think it’s up to the longstanding Blues, next to the newcomers, to help them to learn the songs. Well that’s what I do if I want others to join in.
Was doing that V Chelsea ....big chinese lad in between me and next lad......we had hold of him making him sing. He loved it.

My son told me a woman in front of him asked him “to keep the noise down” when he was singing. Utterly ridiculous, but clearly not a regular in 315!

Saying that, I think this is the way group stage CL matches have to be in future. For these games it isn’t necessarily a pricing thing. They’ve been sanitised to the point that lots of regulars don’t even want to be there, meaning if the club don’t make the matches attractive and accessible for tourists, schools and families, then the ground will be far from full. This will be even more apparent with a 62k capacity.

I don’t feel too bad about it, Anfield and Old Trafford have been packed with tourists for years, their grounds aren’t filled with locals or passionate football fans either.

Trouble is if you don't go the early games you won't qualifive for the knock out games.
I wouldn't go to cl games for that reason, I can't justify 2 days of work, staying over night for 3 'smaller' games in the hope of getting tickets for the knock out stage. Just doesn't make sence to spend over 500 quid in the hope of getting knock out game tickets.

I just listen on City app, can’t go now but last night it did seem that just when team desperately needed the support from the crowd, support waned and went quiet, nervous and anxious. not at all what was needed. Pep must rightly get infuriated, It’s a problem. It’s not like the Kippax, enclosed, standing supporter totally different acoustics. The club really need to get heads together and come up with a solution to this. The school parties and such like could do with being kept together, but do not know how that can be organised. Hope there is a magical plan for when the new extension is finalised.

The atmosphere was embarrassing. Pep was asked about it in the press conference but didn't bite

Such a huge contrast to Chelsea. I think it's because the new fans don't know the songs and there's no 'end' to start the songs off.
Disagree completely on the reasoning being new fans not knowing songs. As many, including myself, have said on here before. I'm surrounded by long long standing season ticket holders who couldn't seem more disinterested if they tried. Turn up late, leave early both at the start, half-time and end, without a single effort to sing, cheer or barely clap substitions. They'll blame Akanji and pals for playing slow boring football, or the price of tickets. But the simple reason is, they've seen too much good football and success over the years, now they're either spoilt or bored. There was a time when blues got excited about progressing in big tournaments, now it's just mundane.

Wasn't there yesterday, but the SuperSport stream I was watching kept saying the atmosphere was strong until the 3rd went in but BT Sport were saying it's crap.

Which was closer to the truth?

For those saying it was shite. That first half was quite honestly boring. It only livened up when Bruges attacked.
We are not Europe Ultras who are controlled by a Capo who doesn't even watch the game.
The fans started off loud but after the 24th pass that ended up with the player who started the move, it gets a bit hard to generate an atmosphere.
Plus, a lot of you are moaning about different faces, so where were you ? There were tickets available.

To me, the only ones who can moan about lack of atmosphere are the ones who went to the match.

Yeah there’s no way I would personally travel the length of the country for a group game. I go because I live a few miles away and the pricing is okay, but can fully understand why so many have sacked them off. The knock out stage will hopefully be a different story, although we all know thousands will be going online for any fucker with the available cash to buy.

From my own perspective at the back of 115, I thought it was quite poor in the first half. We tried to get loads going from where we were and although fans joined in, it wasn’t always in big numbers. Better in the second half as you’d expect. Not that I’d know for the first 15 minutes or so as - and this could go down as a too much information comment - I had the trots and was stuck on the bog FFS! I heard the roar for our first 2 goals loud and clear from the cubicle though ;)

I must add that I wasn’t too impressed with the Bruges fans either. We often can’t hear 110/111 singing from the back of 115 until it’s too late because the away fans in the middle are making a racket but last night a fair few songs started in 110/111 and we could hear them loud and clear from the off which enabled us to join in.
The biggest problem that stifles our atmosphere is the away fans in SS1. When I'm in 110 I can see blues singing in 115/116/117 but can't often hear them unless the away fans are quiet. And when SS1 and Kippax corner do sing the same song it's mostly not in unison, it's out of sync and sounds like an echo effect.

The only way to synchronise the singing is to remove the away fan divide and put them in SS3 but I don't think we'd be allowed to do it due to a ruling in 2017 that all PL clubs must give away fans at least one block that is pitch side. United and Newcastle being the exception for whatever reason...

NO WAY should ANY away fans be in SS3.

It's the only noisey stand we've got and in should be City only under the acoustic roof.

Away fans should be down round the corner flag ESL110/111SSL1.

No more of yer nonsense !!

In terms of the champions league, other than a couple of the bigger games (spurs, Madrid and psg) I don’t think we’ve ever had that great an atmosphere in this competition.

There’s a number of reasons for that. I’d say one being our fans for whatever reason have just never taken to the competition - I know loads of season ticket holders who don’t go to any of the games.

Obviously the fans that do attend need to be singing more, but I don’t think the club have helped either. The ticket prices are often too much and the ground feels a bit like Disneyland in this competition.

I wonder what the atmosphere would have been like if we were still at Maine road

I’m glad I gave the non singers a kick up the arse at half time. No offence to 1894 who do the thankless task of trying to get the Etihad rocking, aka flogging a dead horse.
The crowd and the players were tense in the opening minutes. I thought the team started so slowly they didn't capitalise on momentum from the Chelsea match. They were so slow moving the ball. They gave very little back to the crowd till after half time.

The fans usually react when the lads need them the most. I think that was the case in second half. Not many joining in with my new chant though of “Hercule Poirot. Is a W@@ker. Is a W@@ker
