General / Mental Health Support Thread

Dark feelings often don't have a rational explanation, I know.
On the other hand you've got:
someone to love you.
kids to care for
a civilised country.
good health care
not a crazy man as president
fish for dinner.

AND a bloody boat, like the Vikings!
Not doing so bad.

Yeah, debt is debt everything costs. Fresh fish is good but not to much toxins in the river makes oddly the farming salmon more "safer" to eat.

The NHS is a nightmare at the moment especially if your waiting for a phone call, could you ring them up again ?
Might need to just go to the hospital tonight. It's really that bad.
For some reason I hate Thursdays. They always make me feel on edge. So odd.
I'll have a walk first and see how I feel then. Usually feel quite good after a long walk but it doesn't last.
In Tameside we now have 'well being colleges' and there is also a walk in centre in Ashton Under Lyne. Cannot go on like this and thank god most of winter has gone.

I'm doing two hour walks every night but the following day the darkness is back with a vengeance. Rinse and repeat.
I have gigs Friday night and Saturday night , hopefully those will help but feels like I'm trying to hold a tide back or get rid of demonic possession.
Still waiting for the NHS to get in touch which they promised.
You going to the Lizzie and the Banshees gig on Saturday mate?

Gigs always help lift my mood.

Sorry to hear that you are feeling that low.

Winter is awful in this country. I hate it too. My mood and behaviours change dramatically from Oct until March generally.

I felt slightly more hopeful today though lwith the sun out and it staying light until about 5. It gives me the feeling that another month and I will start to get back to feeling more normal.

However, if you feel really low then seek help in one of the places you mention.

Worse, to be honest. Might try to get a GP appointment tomorrow. I'm already on antidepressants but it's a low dose and I've been on them for a couple of years so maybe a change is needed.

I started the year pretty positively but it's all fallen to the wayside the past 2 or 3 weeks. Struggling to get anything done at all, I'm basically just dragging myself out of bed at the last minute, forcing myself to go to work, then going home and getting straight back into bed. Can't find the energy or motivation for anything and I'm feeling increasingly tearful.

Could be hormonal I guess. Or just all the things that have happened to me the past year or so finally hitting me all at once. Or the severe lack of daylight getting me down. Maybe all those things. See what the doctor says I suppose.
It’s good to talk and a doctor tends to be a friendly ear in my experience. Nearly Spring now and more daylight by the day. I’m convinced that has an effect on many people, me included. I’ve found the last 2 months in particular a real slog.

It’s been a long cold winter so dark but I thought today the sun looks much brighter and it feels warmer. We are nearly into February it might help to lift your mood a little bit but go up to the hospital if you can’t shake it off tonight, or the walk in centre if it’s open late.
Otherwise ring 111 and tell them how you’re struggling tonight you can’t keep walking round Ashton it’s still very cold at night. Xx big hug

Let the meds kick in. As I posted earlier, try to get out for a walk, just a 30 minute one, each day. All things being equal, I’m sure you’ll see some improvement soon, let’s not put a date on it, but you will:-)
Works for me. Even better if the weather is bad. Also, when out walking, make sure you take in and appreciate your surroundings as opposed to walking with your head down thinking about your problems.

Get back in touch with your doc. I get a quicker response. You need some kind of counselling...soon as.

Thank you, getting walking will be my New Month Resolution.
Just been for my walk. I usually walk in the subways and park with a long raincoat. Today I approached two old ladies in the park and gave them a quick flash. One of the poor old ladies had a stroke. The other couldn't reach!! wah wah waaaah.

You have to be careful walking round in the dark we want you all to stay safe and not get accused of any misdeeds. Daytime is best my back garden came in handy for a few years round and round until I got bored.
Taking a hint from the prostate cancer thread they are arranging a long walk over near Glossop it might be worth checking to see if any walking clubs etc in your areas something to look forward to.

Also for anyone of a certain age, there is also the U3a (University of the 3rd age), they have memberships in all areas. This is South Manchester https://south-manchester.u3asite.uk/ but of course there are others. Although, I’m not a member myself, it’s only due to commitments, work and caring, but I have friends who are members.
