Yea I've made peace with the fact that unless the Luiz situation changes as in straight loan, then no midfielder is coming. Think it's a big risk short term, and CL qualification will be a really big fight. That said that's better than buying the wrong player and being stuck with more deadwood like Philips and Nunes. Time to back the lads we do have and see where it takes us between now and June.The club knows much better than anybody on here what we need
The simple facts are that it is not easy to sign a player that the selling club either need or over value by some margin, especially mid season
I would guess that if Douglas Luis was available on a straight loan, he would be here already.
No point in buying someone that they have doubts or don’t see as a future player in this window
We may have to accept that this is a transition season. If we manage to qualify for the CL , than that would be a good transition season for me

I'd forgotten about Mac Allister who'd get in the side now, but I don't agree that he was as good as peak Gundo or Bernardo and he isn't a patch on Rodri or peak KDB.Mac Allister would absolutely have been getting in our team and is far better than anything we have at the moment off the ball. Mitoma could be argued.
Bit disingenuous to argue that no one from Brighton's squad in the last five years wouldn't get in the Treble side. We were pretty rubbish Dec-Jan of that season, but on the run in and champions league knockouts the 11s were world class. Except for say, Grealish who was doing a specific job, which you could then argue you don't really know how a player, world class or otherwise, will play in a Pep team until they do.
Savio is 20 and already looks a better player than Mitoma.

Apparently Gundo is only 5 appearances away from an automatic one year extensionIm not adverse to this as some, assuming we let Gundo go in summer and have Luiz for that spot.
