93:20 Podcast

Some of them have connections in the media - I think one of the Lloyd's works for the BBC. Ahsan has UEFA coaching badges and Howard knows the guy that blows the leaves off the pitch at the Etihad.
PMSL. I’ve got an FA Licence if that’s of use.

@slbsn used to be on it before he got famous. He was a bit of a happy clapper though to be honest and the other hosts had to reign in his overly optimistic pronouncements constantly.

I still remember that one time @Damocles was on.
Happy clapper?
Heh.

He out-Berts Howard.

I do remember one of the Gallagher brothers on for a very brief spell around the time of Pellers.
Is that the same fella?

But, playing the advocate of the devil, how are those guys any more informed than those that post on here? I’d say nothing or less so.
You get some very intelligent opinions on here, but I would suggest that the nature of podcasting allows a greater depth of analysis and the signal to noise ratio is somewhat better.
I think it's worthwhile and am happy to subscribe but I read BM as well.

That’s fair comment I have to say. I just can’t see why I’d pay to listen to 3 or 4 of the guys off here chat for 50 mins. It certainly allows each of them more “signal” but not sure I’ve got the time left in my life to pay to listen to more of it. When I get together with my City pals in the pub we do an equally good job for me.

The podcast was always supposed to be by and for fans. The fact that you compare us to people you go to the pub with, is actually a compliment.
There's some podcasts out there that has people who are using the platform to try and become journalists or influencers or whatever. That's not what 9320 is. There's journalists and influencers on there because it might be an interesting conversation and through the podcast, Ahsan essentially now knows every major media figure connected to City, but this isn't his job. Howard used to work in a Job Centre. Ahsan is a TV and movie scriptwriter. Lloyd is a media lawyer. Ste is a writer.
The reason people listen and subscribe is because they can listen to the lads with a bit of nouse and connection in the pub talk about City on their way to work or while out for a jog, instead of listening to TalkSport or podcasts by journalists who despise us and are looking for ways to criticise us constantly. And in fact sometimes those people will come on and front up and be taken to task.
It's a bunch of matchgoing and obsessive Blues providing alternative radio. Listeners range from 40 year tenured season ticket holders to ex-pats who want a slice of Manchester to teenagers in the US who played us on FIFA. But it's ours. Mine and yours and every other long term City fan who doesn't want to hear Glendennig or Simon Jordan talk uninformed shit about us and instead wants to listen to passionate and informed Blues talk about the match.
I have a young brother as my Dad remarried. Hes in Uni now down South. After every match, he calls me. Rain or shine, within 5 mins of the match ending, he's on the phone. And we talk about what we've just seen, who played like what, where transfers are at, latest news and gossip etc for a good 30 to 60 mins.
I'm probably not giving anything away by telling you that, when I'm not wrangling the servers on Bluemoon, I've worked in football vaguely consistently for around 20 years as a side career and have coached more than a few people who became really decent pros. But that's not why my brother calls me. He isn't interested in my qualifications, he calls me because he wants to hear opinions of other Blues to see how it matches up with his. He wants to listen to people with a different perspective than him. Sometimes he wants someone to verbalise his anger in an act of catharsis, sometimes he wants to know others are incredulous at the ref decision and he's not going mad, others he wants to share the joy and listen to people as happy and excited as he is because it gives you a feeling of community.
That's essentially all the podcast is. I'm sure you and everyone else has a lot of friends, but how many of them are obsessive about City? How many times are you speaking to a mate or the missus and you realise that you're banging on about City for 20 minutes and they don't care like you care? The podcast lads do. And they feel the same emotions, go through the same ups and downs and share in your frustration and joys. To many people, they're not fortunate enough to be able to have others like that. There isn't a group of 10 lads all passionate City fans waiting at the local for them to talk about Gundogan's out of possession positioning with. But, some people know that as they're going for a jog or going to work or doing the dishes, they can listen to a few lads who are just as passionate as they are, talk about the things they want to hear about.
That's all the podcast IS. Alternative radio for City fans in a world that hates us, by other City fans. That's all it ever tries to be.
I'm not on the in 9320 payroll nor on Bluemoon's but I'm proud to be associated with both, because I believe both to be extensions of my community.
There's many podcasts out there but this one belongs to us. No sponsorship, no pseudo journalists trying to boost their CV, no like, subscribe, and ding the bell. Just US, people like you and me, talking about City, every day.

This!

I'll be frantically refreshing my feed all day tomorrow to hear the guys talk about the game. I'll agree or disagree but no matter what is said I know its fellow blues saying it and their opinions are their own and not filtered through any bias other than they love City like me. Its often insightful and well worth the quid a week it costs

Humbled -Post Arsenal review.

Ashan and Lloyd again on this one.

Deffo think 2 up only on these reviews is a great format.

Ashans apologies at the end we're a perfect bookend (not that it was needed). I got the point perfectly, such a difficult match to review for the reasons explored.

But, I got a feeling that both presenters (esp. Ashan) were deliberately trying not to uncover the bald, erratic, Catalan elephant hiding in the room.

They ruffled the covers a bit but I thought they were treading carefully.

I suspected this is because of the credit in the bank, this mad elephant has and I know Ashan would be thrilled if he signed for another 10 years, but, you can just tell that patience is wearing thin.

For my part, a "Wtf is pep doing" pod would be great.

He's earned the right to fuck up but not the right to do so without criticism. If he's untouchable for this season then we should have no problem with turning the spotlight on him and seeing what's his story actually is for this season.

I thought this elephant had its own gravitational mass about which the pod was revolving, all be it, like a black hole, one which didn't actually let itself be seen without looking for it.

One thing I was disappointed with was when ashan apologised for venturing into a rant. I love the rants. Angry ashan is great radio. (I was hoping for a Liverpool '22 explosion tbh).

But great show. The feel of the episode caught the post match mood perfectly.

Friday show: 07th Feb

Tudor/Lloyd/George

I'm going to give Tudor his flowers here.

He's actually really good at hosting the shows. He's better asking the questions rather than answering them and he clearly worked hard on the structure/agenda .
He allows the guests to speak and has good timing for when to interject, prod or change the discussion.

Scragg great as ever and George equally so.

Really enjoyed this one.

I listen to Blue Moon, 9320 and Let Me Talk.

They all have their merits but I find 9320 is by far the most interesting and insightful.

I’ve been listening to it from day one, it’s brilliant. I’d happily pay more for it given how much time and effort the lads clearly put into it.

I subbed fairly recently to the guys and love the podcast. Must go to alot of effort to put it together. Think it's worth every penny.

Was listening to it before paywall and didn't hesitate to subscribe it's brilliant and all the different podcasters on the make that good!

Friday show: 14-02-25

A threesome this time with Howard as the host and Chris and Lloyd as guests.

Was ok.
Good, articulate and intelligent inputs from the guests as usual.

As always, a decent focus on details rather than the usual fan based podcast waffle from others.

Howard is better on the other side of the bench though. He states opinion rather than offers it and continues to struggle with the basics of hosting (listening and allowing others to speak).

A few missed opportunities in this pod though:

1) Lloyd (as a legal mind) could have prepped a summary of the latest case being brought by city against the pl.
2) Chris (as a referee) could have dug into the recent controversies regarding Oliver.

I did like the rebuttals from the guests against Howard's displeasure at the clubs recent legal actions. :)

And I agree with the inabilities of the team to come up with score predictions for today's match.

93:20 review: Pep Bawl. 10.02.25

Howard and Adam Monk on this one to discuss the RM play off loss.

I'll make my apologies for this post now but i pays my monies so i have the right to say it as i see (or heard) it.

What should have been an interesting hour spent with a really good guest (Adam) quickly degraded into an emotional and frustrating monologist rant from the host who out did himself in his usual interview technique of asking a question, answering himself and going off on a tangent all the while the guest is left derping in the background and hanging on to the question originally asked in a vane hope of getting a word in edgeways.

The idea of having a guest on a show is to give them the platform to speak and for the host to listen, encourage and direct.

I felt quite embarrassed for Adam at times. He even apologised to howard at one point for interrupting him mid rant to try and have a go at answering or responding to the points in-between Howards bizarrely infrequent pauses for breath. The man must breath through his shoes.

When Adam was able to wrestle the mic away from Howard, he began to make great points.......only for Howard to rail road them on his own personal journey to inner salvation.

Which is a shame because had Howard just dialled the hearing aid up a notch or two, and laid off the double espresso's before hand, there was scope for an excellent pod as both are clearly knowledgeable about the subject.

So to Howard, after the caffeine rush has subsided and you've replaced the batteries in your hearing aid, go and listen (you can do it) to the pod and put yourself in the shoes of the guest who you've had on to allegedly listen to, and the listener who's trying not get wound up on behalf of the guest whom they would like to hear from.

3/10. Must try harder.

What happened to ‘The City Spaces’ podcasts? They were great to listen to during the Treble season.

Review: Referees in Crisis. 21.02.25

Howard and pod regular Chris on this one to discuss refereeing with added context that Chris is actually a working football referee.

Superb Pod.
Howard wound his neck in somewhat from the last pod (see above). Not perfect by any means but Chris was well able to stop the worst of Howard's excesses so well done Howard, and also well done on the agenda.

I wonderful insight into refereeing through the eyes of one of thier own.

Couldn't help but think this should be required listening for fans before they go off moaning about referee performance, bias and conspiracy.

It's only when you hear the other side that you truly get proper context.

These pods lift the show to another lever imho.

9/10. Magnificent.

Just listening to this now.

Chris is excellent, he used to be on a lot more than he is now.
