Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The current players are no longer capable of playing a possession based game, far too many unenforced passing errors this season and combined with the lack of any mobility or physicality to recover from turnovers it’s a recipe for disaster. But we continue to rinse and repeat
Stupid thing is, is when we do go a bit more direct, we look a threat!!!

Guardiola has 1 idea. A great one, because of everything he won.

But now that his idea isn't working anymore he doesn't have a clue what to do.

Give him a heroes goodbye and move on.
Oh really. This season has been one of injuries & transition. Are we not allowed one or do you now expect to win the PL every year.

This is on the whole club, the directors, the manager, the coaches. There should have been a plan in place to replace ageing players. Khaldoon always says we have a plan in place, well we've chased players for too long and missed out. We've not paid up for certain players and missed out. And we've had to go an buy players who for no fault of their own are not at the level required.

Peps persistence in playing centre halves as full backs, trying to make Rico into something he's not, which has impacted in him and maybe he looks worse for it than he is. Trying to turn midfielders into full backs and midfielders that for some reason will not pass the ball forward.
And defenders that won't hoof it when they need to.

Then we have our coaches that won't play anything other than a high line, our corners and set pieces are awful, we have no pace, no strength and no height in the team. How does this team not have an established left back in the traditional sense of one. How did we not have cover for an ageing right back.
Why oh why are we going into the 3rd of February without a strong defensive midfielder and I don't think expecting the lad from Porto to come in here and solidify the middle, we need another alongside him.

How the hell we are in 4th spot ive no idea.

Agree. Our complacency and unwillingness to be ruthless in the transfer market is seriously fucking us over now.

Every year we see were top 3 for earnings in the whole of football, yet never use that or the pull of Pep and all the recent trophies to go and get the absolute best.

It’s fucking bullshit. No ambition at all. Making Villa, Spurs level signings instead of Real Madrid level signings.

You can’t win every year mate you just can’t. How stressed have you been watching city the last 5 years? Now transfer that to the players.
I get the point you make and that’s valid.

As I said, getting beaten is ok. We can’t win it all the time and we won’t.

I don’t agree that because the players won everything that is somehow allows for them to collapse.

We could still be hard to beat. Run and fight harder than the opposition. Football keeps going. You can’t decide oh we have won it all now let’s not bother next season.

Get Sean Dyche and Neil Warnick in as tactical coaches. Nothing to lose. Seriously needs some new ideas and going back to basics.

I know injuries don't help but Arteta got his defence right 2 years ago and built from there. The fact they bottled and were too emotional gave us the 23 league, but his defence is paying dividends.
The lack of any fresh ideas from Pep or his coaching team is alarming. Injuries are part and parcel of the game, look at Arsenal, Bournemouth even, but we seem incapable or unwilling to adapt.

Pep is finished , sad to say it but his time has come.
at least someone with some balls has called it, expect a battering on here for that but sadly its the truth, he's done us proud but the long term fail from Pep is going back to the Kompany years and not replacing players as they aged, this has carried on up to date, that IMO is bad management

I fear it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Midfield too old,too slow and weak I have been saying this all season!! Where our midfield signing?
I honestly can’t understand what the plan is anymore.

Marmoush looks like he could be a good player, but that’s not guaranteed and he certainly wasn’t the priority. The other two lads we’ve bought were expensive and may or may not turn out to be good investments, but they’re not going to turn the season around.

Now we’ve got one day left in the window and we haven’t bought a midfielder which, to be honest, we know we’ve needed for at least 12 months.

Given that track record I’m somewhat sceptical that we’re going to sign six or seven top class players in the summer. Because our inability to improve and freshen up the squad over the past two years now means that we do need six or seven players in order to remain competitive.

We were on par till 2nd goal then it went to shit we need a midfielder now

From pep to the players..
Absolute shite..

I'm off to watch Ghostbusters, predator then John carpenters The Thing...

They never let me down..

Literally, the only good thing to come out of this game should be that the squad will be having a right ding-dong in that dressing room right now. Professional pride has been trashed and they better be fucking hurting.
Words need to be said and players need to become bigger in their handling of responsibilities.
Maybe they are having words with Pep about him hanging them out to dry on the tactics, ot maybe Pep is furious at their lack of basic ball management.
Whatever, something needs to change. And maybe this result will be the catalyst.
Here's hoping.
