Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

You never saw it coming ? We got dry bummed off Spurs and Bournemouth, and Feyenoord would have dumped us out of the CL given another ten more minutes play , 2 nil up against Brentford, the list is endless. This has been 100% coming since the 7th/8th game of the season, this team is finished.
Is it though?

Haaland, Savinho, Foden, Doku, Bobb, Gvardiol, Rico, McAtee and the three players we just signed are all relatively young. Rodri isn’t exactly old either.

Just seems that this current set up is not getting the best from any of them.

If the players are not as good as say Rodi and Dias then yes you are going to struggle no matter what tactics your provide (any club would struggle )
If you don't have that quality, then you change the set up to allow the less able players to compete in a way they can. Not ask them to compete at a higher level than they are able.

So, any positives from today's game? 5-1 is a fucking pumping.
Yes - just back from the Emirates. Very few tourists in the away end for a change (it's one of their favourite fixtures normally) and nice to see a group of Arsenal twats get booted out after they scored. Oh, and Haarland scored a goal.

Yea I've given up getting angry about Nunes, the lad was never good enough and shouldn't have been bought, but that's not his fault. And now he's been shoved into a position he quite clearly isn't comfortable playing because there is no one else. It's almost like watching someone kicking a puppy. It's just cruel and someone needs to step in and stop it.

Maybe they do the Cambiaso deal in the summer. Still don't understand not signing Frimpong given the price and the the space given to the right fullback when City has possession.

How many times does Nunes get it and look hesitant about playing forward or passing back? That's not a criticism of him. But the difference would be stark with someone properly attacking from there and wouldn't give up much in defense the way Nunes is in that spot.

Sorry I didn’t mean to imply that you weren’t supporting them. Just saying that I was. I know that 99.9% on here are City supporters and I would never intentionally insult them. Sorry. :-)
No need at all to apologize, I didn’t for a second think you were suggesting that. We’re all just frustrated and ranting a bit. All good.

I'm not saying Pep's lost his ability or no longer a genius. He's just shellshocked with what's going on in his personal life, his defenders not being fit (which is partially on him), and his senior players being actively poor or just shells of themselves.

My point was that those other three managers have managed to build cohesive systems with players who aren't as good as ours.
I'd say we've won all these Prem titles with players who didn't all arrive as ready made superstars - Akanji, Alvarez, Ake and Rodri to name a few. Pep generally elevates players to another level. Klopp's Liverpool took a few fearful beatings in his time. Having said that, we played slow-mo footy today and handed the game to Arsenal with two incredible mistakes.

Really pathetic. We were only in the game because they showed us too much respect. Every single time they got the ball and ran with it we were fucked. Every time we had the ball and tried to create something it was pedestrian and Nunes was our only player in space. And useless with it.

Akanji shite. Foden shite. Nunes shite.

The board need to switch on and make some considerable changes or we are going to be fucked long beyond this season.
Nunes did fine and kept Trossard quiet, which was his main job. Needs to be told/practice to cross first time but overall did well.

If you don't have that quality, then you change the set up to allow the less able players to compete in a way they can. Not ask them to compete at a higher level than they are able.
We looked immobile , Rico gets a lot of shit on here , but is anyone telling me he’s worse than coco the clown who played right back today ? At least Rico shows for the ball inside and has real energy.

Refused entry because my ticket had somehow been duplicated
Missed their 1st goal whilst trying to find a pub then saw our equaliser and their 2nd and 3rd.

Left the pub at 1-3 and sat on the coach as the noise from the stadium suggested that Arsenal had got a 4th and 5th

Shite day and I believe a shite performance
Crikey mate, that's a real crap day.
