I can’t blame Pep, because the defenders didn’t turn up, but having spent so much on defenders, last week, why didn’t he bring at least one of them on before the damage was done? Hopefully they will get a run out against Leyton Orient next weekend, and maybe Ake and Dias will be fit again soon, without them we are doomed to mid-table

We didn't play long ball against Chelsea we played the usual possession based football , but just happened to score when Ederson spotted a one off long pass , as he has done multiple times over the years and when done before we have never labelled the playing style long ball
 
Changing the subject slightly - strangely sad to see Raheem go from the dynamic goalscoring trophy winning machine he was for us, to the Tarquins' mascot. Even sadder that he seems happy with that.

We deliberately adopted a longer ball style against Arsenal and pushed de Bruyne higher up beside Haaland in the match in 2023.

We did a similar thing in the first match against United in 2017-2018 pushing de Bruyne higher to run into the 2nd balls.

No we don't play the entire match that way but we do set up for key plays and portions of matches like tha quite regularly when we expect to have certain challenges.

Also, where is the old fashion showing them down the line? My old coach would be going crazy if you let them cut back to a chance of shooting or pass
 
I’m pretty sure that our worst team in the 90’s wouldn’t have lost that game 5-1 from a 1-1 scoreline with just over half an hour to go

They should hang their fucking heads in shame
