Yes this overview is spot on. Ive always said as long as we score goals we can get away with a few errors at the back but we just dont create enough clear cut chances and have a shit defence. Bad recipe.

To be fair we're still the 3rd highest scoring team in the PL, and would be 2nd had we not folded up our tent on 60 minutes today.
It's our inability to defend that's killing us. That's not saying I'm happy with our forward play - I'm certainly not - as we're too passive these days for some reason

Credit to the City fans - stayed behind right to the end to see off the team despite no doubt being dismayed at the last 30 mins.

Just maybe the players know this is the end of the line , they pushed to make it a record 4 in row ? The treble done , what have they left to really show anymore, just maybe they want out now , can you blame them ? The only thing the club has got wrong , well not really wrong , is underestimating just how much it’s taken out of the players , and manager , Txiki leaving is the real big one here ? Peps lifelong confidente is leaving , and with that , this club just won’t be the same again , the players are milked dry , nothing left to give but pride for themselves , the manager and the club ? And the transition now is becoming more painful than we ever imagined.
Will Pep stay to build a new team ? 50% at least of this team has done its best.
End of the season can’t come quick enough , it’s painful to watch the demise , we will get fleeting glances of what we were , but this team is finished.

Just rewatched some of the match in a more dispassionate way. Raya - who was doubtful for the match ( just our luck he was fit) - had a blinder today. We could have been winning in the first half. That would have done to them - confidence wise - what their goals did to us.
It was just one of those games and we’ll improve & be back with new players & injured ones returning.
I’m not writing us off for the main trophies AND We’ve ALREADY WON ONE!!

They shouldn’t sign long contracts then. Players win and then decide that’s it? Iv done enough now so I won’t bother trying. This is a what it looks like at times tbf.

You can still have pride tho. A certain professionalism to not get hammered.

Lots of good questions but for me the players are not good enough anymore and that is mainly down to poor recruitment and forward planning. We have bought inferior players to replace superior players.

Agree with the end of the season. The whole club needs a reset.

I think a few players have been told they're going at the end of the season and this has caused some unrest in the camp. Too many not putting 100% in anymore, that's my view fwiw

If they are under contract then someone has to stump up

Others out of contract will know they won't get an extension.

Who is going to buy John Stones for example and match his wages.

I keep saying it in every thread but remain baffled to why Jack Grealish isn't playing.

We’ve capitulated a few times this season, it seems once one goal goes in others soon follow.

A fair summary.

The second goal killed City, after basically taking an hour to recover the latest defensive howler, to go behind straight away through a combination of Foden fuck up, failure to block a shot by Stones and bad luck with the deflection just drained the side. They wilted.

Unless City sort that defence out our season is done.

Think if we are being honest we have not recruited to the same level as previous.

All this doesn’t happen if you replace top quality players with top quality players.

Financial restrictions have had an impact.

How we negotiate this and find a way to buy top tier again is anyone’s guess.

I also think that you don't get punished when you are flying and when a player is covering the left-back slot or holding midfield it is not a major problem, But when you are out of form and struggling with injuries you get punished for using cover players, No fullbacks No holding midfield players and your number 1 keeper is out what can go wrong will

Look it's not going to be our season and we all have views on why, But I will say this last thing on today's game
Give Pep his best starting 11 out of this squad and age or 4 in a row is far too much football does not raise its ugly head

The season isn’t done for me, we need a top five spot, are still in the CL, though admittedly I can’t see us winning it, and still in the FA Cup, I mean the fucking rags won it last year, so I’m not giving up.

No. There’ll be no surprises. Those that want to go, to cash in on a last move, will continue to put themselves in window. Those who are now past their best, know they’re in their last season. But they are the sort of loyal players who will continue to play their best.
Whatever happened today, I don’t believe our players go out without the aim to do their best.
It was just a shit day against a bunch of arrogant cheating tossers (unfortunately)
