It just goes to show how much of this is down to mentality.Leeds were absolutely gutted to lose Phillips for "just" £42m.
While Akanji, who is having a poor season but was a key part of our treble win in his debut season, was being waved good riddance by Dortmund fans for £15m.
In Philips case he thought he'd made the big time and switched off whereas Akanji thrived alongside better players and his confidence took him up a couple of levels.
Unfortunately it looks like he can't be the one that holds it together, but I'm pretty certain that he'll remain a good squad player when the new lads bolster the defence.
