Will this country ever be a good place to live again and bringing up a family in a safe and friendly atmosphere or are we heading into a world of doubt, everything is going up on a weekly basis job losses on the horizon the world becoming more violent by the day how do we see the future for our children and their children.

We're all going to end up in poverty hating things through our phone screens.

It’s your responsibility to find that safe and friendly place for yourself and your family, but you might have to compromise on what it comes with…and doesn’t!

I live 20 miles from my daughter in a super safe Chicago suburb. She’s in a Chicago neighborhood that sees its share of nonsense, but is steeped in cultural opportunities.

However, we also have a lake house 109 miles west of here which is safe, friendly, beautiful and much cheaper than here or Chicago!

But, not many decent paying jobs out there, or bars and restaurants, or culture (movies, theatres, museums), not to mention school choice.

Conversely, you can go for a horseback ride in the morning, spend time fishing, swimming, or just tooling around on your boat on the lake in the afternoon and then have a BBQ on your deck overlooking the lake or around your fire pit in the evening.

Choices…

If you are part of the lower orders, things are extremely brutal and will only get worse. That's how I see it. I'm not blaming any politician or whoever for this I'm just stating this from what I observe and what I experience.
It's actually a fate worse than death to live for some.
One reason why I believe they should legalise voluntary assisted euthanasia so we don't have train drivers traumatised for life. Yes rail suicide is a daily occurrence pretty much in this country.

Mustn’t grumble.

The western world has probably reached a plateau where unlike previous generations, each subsequent generation are unlikely to do better than their parents. On a global level, the last 80 yrs have been abnormal in terms of peace and worldwide stability, by comparison to the rest of history.

If you're happy with a simple life then you will probably be fine. If you want to join the race to keep up with the Jones' , like the image that social media influencers portray, then you're setting yourself up for a life of misery, disappointment and poverty.

Unless we have a major shift in the balance of wealth in the country by ensuring we tax excessive wealth. Then the only thing you can do is try to maintain as much intergenerational wealth as possible.

The problem with it is those that have already been left behind are unlikely to ever get out of poverty and you end up with a less sunny version of South Africa, with the wealthy in gated, guarded communities and frankly thats not my cup of tea.

Yes, this is a first world country for now.

However, there will be growing issues of safety, hopelessness, competency, belonging, etc.

If you live in an individualistic way, you will not be able to put pressure on the government and will be put last for all social amenities.

Atheistic, individualistic people are also having next to no offspring and are probably the most isolated and most likely to top themselves.

Hence why many (myself included) would prefer to jump ship. Yes we can buy things, but are we really content?

Joking aside, I have a granddaughter and soon a grandson and I do worry, maybe worry is the wrong word, concern sounds better but I would image that mankind has been thinking the same since the dawn of homo sapians. Maybe it's because we are the dominant species that we just get on with it and unfortunately survive.

I said it before, civilization peaked at Oasis, Kinky, britpop, and a democracy boom. Its all gone shit since then.

Now we're in a democracy recession, prices are getting higher, wealth gap larger, war on the horizon... I count myself very lucky to have lived the period I have.
