So sad to see, he’s absolutely shot to pieces. He shouldn’t be playing at all nowadays, let alone getting 90 minutes every single game.

He used to be press resistant, but he’s now the trigger for the press now he’s become that cumbersome in possession.

The sign Pep got out of ideas. Everything starts ends with Bernardo. It’s not fair to him.
Tactically, I thought we were generally ok tonight. Except for De Bruyne starting. Which was misplaced loyalty at best. And which is why Bernardo spent the whole game doing the work of two.

There's been a big drop off from him since the treble season

Can't knock his attitude or effort, but he barely has any influence on games anymore. Very little quality coming from him for a good while now.

Either needs a good rest here or a fresh start elsewhere.

There was one passage of play second half where he hared around chasing 3 or 4 of their players culminating in him trying to close their goalie down. Such a waste of energy and also meant there was space he'd vacated. It's not the first time recently and seems performative - like Walker giving wingers a head start last season, as if to prove to himself that he can still do it

Gave away the free kick which led to the goal. I just don’t see what he brings to the team anymore. Our midfield is awful at the moment.
He was chasing back because Gvardiol had given the ball away at the edge of their box trying to dribble instead of passing. We’ve still got some fabulous players, just not a particularly effective team at the moment.

I don’t think he’s good enough, however he’s been playing (and covering for) De Bruyne who doesn’t have the legs anymore. Would personally give him a chance next season to play alongside Rodri and Nico… he might not have the pace nor the physicality, but he can turn on his engine every now and then which could come in handy.

Really feel bad, you can see him trying but his legs have gone.

A player who plays the way he’s played his whole career will always burn out young.

He’s still trying to cover the ground he used to but there’s 2 massive problems with that now;

1) He can’t cover the ground as fast as he used to. This is leaving huge gaps in the midfield and leaving us open to a simple ball over the top into space.

2) He’s tiring really quickly now. He looks knackered after half an hour. You can see him struggling to move the ball quickly as a result and he’s getting turned over in possession a lot.

It’s sad, he’s been an all time great. But sadly like a lot of players who play with his tenacity and cover as much ground as he has in his career, he looks to be done.
