President Trump

I have asked you this before, but not sure i got an answer. Where do you believe Trump is trying to bring America?

Perhaps, sometimes the brevity of your question makes it harder to understand what you want in response.

Im not sure i understand this point. Mine was that American education and seemingly Western education is going the route of being harmful to its recipient vis a vis how they feel about their Countries.

There is nothing to be giddy about. I like many simply preferred what Trump offered over Harris. I get it that you and many here don't. And thus, many here who preferred otherwise will spend the next 4 years pointing out everything snd anything they disagree with while ignoring everything they'd have agreed with had a different party done the same.

See! We agree on something. :)
Yeah, I’ve come to regard both this and the US political threads little more than a pantomime, so forgive me if I don’t bother offering a retort to all, save to say, I don’t see Trump as trying to bring America anywhere.

This is nothing to do with making America great or helping the vast majority of its citizens.

He’s a scam artist and it’s all about him and what he can get.
This time around though there’s an agenda behind him. Call it Project 2025 or MAGA or anything you like, but It doesn’t look pretty from the outside looking in.

I’m happy to sit back and watch the pantomime of ‘oh no he isn’t, oh yes he is’, but there are certain issues I find very worrying on a world wide stage, not least the poor response from the world regarding the Israel situation.
I don’t want to predict what will/may happen there, which is what I had in my mind when not being overly ecstatic at the time of him taking credit for a ceasefire.

I’ll keep my powder dry.

Likely 100% for deporting all illegal Irish immigrants.
I don't want to see anyone who's built their lives here and stayed out of trouble deported, Irish or not. I would say that's the more common view among Irish-Americans and I can't tolerate people who want to pull up the ladder.

On the other hand, you might say the same about any other nationality impacted by deportations - and yet, Trump's poll numbers are at an all time high. Because the majority of Americans think (wrongly) that immigrants are taking advantage of Americans.

That's true, but I also think it's hard to catch nuance in those kinds of polls. I think most Americans want dangerous or unstable people deported, and probably migrants who have been here 5 minutes and don't have a real asylum claim, but if you ask them whether they'd want to deport someone who's been here 15 years and has kids and a job, I think/hope the answer would change.

I honestly don't know. But I rather think otherwise. The MAGA media will paint all immigrants as criminals - living on welfare or depriving American citizens of jobs. All of these criminals must go - and that message seems to resonate loud and clear.

If Western Countries continue with this teaching of 'we suck' to our kids while Russia, China, India, etc are teaching theirs they need to work harder, and bring pride to the nation. How long you think before this whole Western enterprise dwindle into obscurity?
1. Do you even have kids?

2. We aren't teaching our kids that "we suck." We are teaching them that "we are lucky." That what they have was built on the backs on many, many, many, many others. MAGA is wholly unable to appreciate this difference.

3. It is unclear to me what "bringing pride to the nation" means in the context of two authoritarian regimes and another where the caste system still hold social (though perhaps not political) sway.

On the contrary, there have been many posts from me about my belief about how the court tends to waft to the center (centre) over time when ideologues or a block thereof begin to exert influence. However, in this case, the fairly distinct evidence re Thomas in particular taking what can only be described as bungs renders any argument of yours that this is "idiotic nonsense" irrelevant. It's a bad look at the very, very least -- and you know this, so stop this charade. Imagine Brennan being accused of similar.
It is idiotic nonsense because those who parrot it never apply this same reasoning equally or across the board.

For example, should we also presume Ketannji Brown Jackson is bought and paid for coz she collected gifts and got a book advance that doubled her wealth? How about Sotomayor? She didnt recuse herself from opining on a case involving a Publishing House she had
prior involvements with Is she bought too?

Or are we gonna all just let common sense prevail and refrain from these nonsensical claims?
They are by and large impeccable jurists who sure may have their leanings, but aren't so susceptible to becoming con artists simply because someone put them on a cruise or let them have top seats at a concert.

And as usual, you fail to see the point -- when the ABA is calling out the issue of the rule of law, any logical impartial observer should sit up and take notice. But you won't, because you aren't.
I see the point just fine. I was just more interested in discussing your hypocrisy. The ABA puts out opinions all the time. Sometimes about Presidents and following the rule of law. I hope you know they put out something similar under the last President when he had his shenanigans with the court....

Did you sit up and take notice then? Stop with your silliness. Its not fooling anyone.

My goodness. You've mastered the art of lying to yourself. "Built on the backs of many others" I am sure, unlike every other Country in the world that was built on the backs of no one else. The sad part is that its obvious you don't even believe this nonsense. But you say it anyway :( Leave this kinda shit to Kobayashi FFS!

This reminds me of when we had Eddie large on the managers bench :)

I watched this and couldn’t believe what I was hearing, Trump hasn’t a clue whats going on and Musk is power pissed, if Americans watching that thinks this is normal your country deserves to fail.
Just comes across as wholly unserious. He`s dressed like a knob and hes got his kid farting around in front of him.

Tell you what, hes always harping about return to work, wonder how he`d feel if everyone at Tesla saved on daycare and brought their kids to presentations and meetings. Should be fine right?

If you don't know, you don't.
1. I am not sure I believe you.
2. God you are so full of shit. "We suck". FFS. Maybe people taught you (and your kids) that YOU suck and it was particular to you. Ever think about that?
3. How do you make America proud?
