I'm sure some of their fans will still think their team is the greatest Premier league side ever.
It's not even the best Liverpool team ever. The side they had in the late 70s was a better side than this. The current side is basically where it is thanks to Salah. He's having a remarkable season for them. 22 goals and 14 assists in 24 games. They're outstanding numbers.

Without Salah, they wouldn't even come close to winning the title

They are simply bad losers as a club and fanbase, so many examples of this over the years but the media are shit scared of them.
Ive never quite understood why that is tho, i get the whole dont buy the sun in liverpool thing but literally who cares, the market there quite simply isnt big enough to care that much about, it always strikes me as something much more nefarious than upsetting a bunch of whiny scousers.

To annoy the scouse I would have the Sun injected directly into my veins.

Just seen the highlights on you tube. Dippers complaining about Oliver, was he bad or the dippers just being dippers and being the victim again ?

Dippers being dippers mate, bottles thrown at players from the crowd because Everton equalised and their lip came out.

It's not just about upsetting scousers. What you've got to realise is the number of glory supporters both in the media itself, and among the armchair fans that read a lot of this print journalism. If you're 45-60 years old, Liverpool were the most successful team in your childhood. If you're 30-45 years old, it was the rags, and for Londoners (where a lot of the media is based) Arsenal. The media, like the rest of society, is full of people who just picked the best team when they were a kid, and your average journalist (especially in senior positions) is likely to have grown up with Liverpool as not only the best team at the time, but with a decade of success under their belt already.

Then add to that the readers. What's the average age of a newspaper reader these days? Probably well over 50. This age group is going to be full of red-shirted glory supporters. So again, it's in their interest to pander to them. Even the fairly continuous slagging off of Man Utd is related to the fan-led opposition to the ownership. If the fans were fully behind the Glazers and Scruffy Jim, there's no way journalists would be criticising the club.
